I would suggest that if you want a bike then go for it. I will warn you though, landcrusers are the most dangerous things on the road so be careful, especially if you are a women and they know it, they may harass you so don't advertise that you are a women.
Ladies can ride bikes and we have a few girls ride Harleys with us in our group. Good used bikes are still quite rare here in Qatar and if its used for commuting to work avaoid a sports bike they are too uncomfortable and not easy to use at slow speeds. Ducati monsters are a good bet easy to ride and low seat height, Harley sportsters too. I know of a Suzuki SV650 thats for sale which would be ideal and its reasonably priced.
Take no notice of the traffic being dangerous, ive worked in India and if you ride a bike there then you will have no problems here as you already know how to ride defensively.
Hi - thanks for all your responses.. The reason why I wanted to know about two wheeler is that I don't know car driving :-(
I am currently in India and I am very much comfortable riding a motor cycle or a bike. More than a car these two wheelers come handy for Indian traffic :-)
It's not illegal for anyone (even children it seems) to ride a motorcycle here in Qatar, but the accident rate is one of the highest in the world. Do not risk your life by riding a motorcycle here.
YES!!! a lady can ride a bike here in Doha, Have friend before, Shes a French, she's riding bike with her bf, not as a back rider, she ride it her self and she's fast...But to be safe, take MC license first..
Check with any driving school around Doha in order to acquire the license. And if you have a western driving license, you can go directly to the traffic police to convert it right away. It will take you 30 minutes.
Prices are cheaper than in Europe and more or less like in the states.
A good 600cc bike will cost you from 28000QR to 50000 depends on the make and model.
Most of the bikes around for sale are either racing or off road but there are a few nice scooters and street city bikes on the market
For Example: A Ducati Monster = 40000
A Triumph 675 = 35000
A Harley Davidson Sportster or Nightster = 42000
If you don't like the models available on the market, you can always go to the dealer and order the model you want, just like I did... it will take a couple of months to arrive but it might be worth it.
2nd hand bikes are quite cheap too if you want to consider this option but you need more time to bump into the bike that suits your requirements.
The weather in Qatar is good for riding for 8 months per year... forget about riding in June July August and September.
As for traffic, the bike is the most wonderful thing that happened to me. It saves me PLENTY of time and stress. I personally haven't had any problems from the way people drive here. As long as you have a fast and light bike and know how to ride in a city.
If you need future help, don't hesitate to contact me.

Lady Bike driver, please don't come in front of Landcruisers or u may become a history!
Lady, I would suggest u to look for a car instead of bike as its very risky considering the high speeds and rash driving.

Good Luck.
its allow but safty 1st ....
You can start riding, and then they will think of the law.
But more concern is regarding your safety. Here people drive cars looking in the mirrors only, and in case they dont see you....
Better wait till you save some more. You will get good used cars from 20,000 QR
its allowed .. for more information, you can contact Pit Stop and they might be able to help you with what you need.
all the best
what do you mean it's not allowed??
of course it's allowed!
we're not in Saudi Arabia!
I have not seen any woman drive or ride a motorcycle in Qatar, so I presume it's not allowed.
