Assistant teacher, may be he or she is falling short of the minimum wage required to sponsor a spouse irrespective of gender?

I know a few people who are on the wife sponsorship.

Alumnar, i didn't try to fix your english, my english is not perfect either... but your response was incorrect.

next point is, yes, wives ARE allowed to sponsor their husbands. but much more rarely, and they should meet certain criteria. And that’s what I exactly sad: if some of your female friends weren’t able to sponsor, or even you have never heard of woman that has sponsored her husband, it doesn’t mean it is impossible. And yes the new law enables such option, and there are certain categories of ladies which meet certain requirements that can and DO sponsor their husbands. Not only their husbands, but ALSO their maids at the same time...

Why I asked you whether this matter is area of your expertise is… you should have noticed that immigration laws in qatar are very complicated and tricky, and the person who is not professional is usually geting completely lost in all these details and tricks...from your answer i understood that you are not professional...

As for the links, there is no such links, as key thing is that EACH CASE IS DIFFERENT. There are common rules and regulations, of course. But there are so many special cases and exceptions. it is impossible to describe each case in any website. Professionals know what to do and how to present the case in order to get things done. That is it.

And at last. I am really sorry for these poor guys who seek the “right” answer on their immigration questions on QL. Eventually they get whole bunch of useless sometimes senseless advices and information, which has nothing to do with the reality.

It’s like giving the advices on QL how to treat this or that disease. There is no universal medicine against any illness. So there is no universal solution for any and each immigration case. There are a lot of common rules, but again, the key thing is that each case is different, and can be eventually solved in this way or another.

... whether they are my business or my area of expertise is really none of your business.

Husband is allowed to sponsor his wife, yes. Reading my post it might sound that he was not until beginning of this year. Wifes are NOT allowed to sponsor husbands. Maybe you should try and correct other peoples' English, such as English of native speakers?

What I do know is that there are qualified teachers of an International School living in my Compound who cannot sponsor their husbands due to this rule.

If you do know better then please post a link to prove that it is allowed - because I am sure my neighbours at the compound are not misinformed (they have gone themselves to the authorities and made sure that what the school informed them was true).

Alumnar, "since beginning of this year a husband is allowed to sponsor his wife to stay with him in Qatar, but a wife is not allowed to sponsor her husband" ??

may i ask you a simple question.. Are Immigration processes your business and you area of expertise? or you are talking out of you "have heard" feelings, or "you think" it works this way, or "your friends did it.." and so on?

Let me disappoint you:

1. husband is allowed to sponsor his wife for AGES, not "since beginning of this year", if qualified

2. "since beginning of this year" the wife IS allowed to sponsor her husband, if well qualified.

... to make sure you know (whether it applies to your case or not) that since beginning of this year a husband is allowed to sponsor his wife to stay with him in Qatar, but a wife is not allowed to sponsor her husband. I know... It's the definition of Evolution In Qatar...

being from the UK you get one month on arrival. Before the end of the month go to Immigration and get another month extension. After that you have to leave the country but you can come back again for another month (called a 'visa run'). So you get a total of 3 months.

Hope this helped (I have done the same, and as we are from EU countries this is what we are allowed to do).

i never heard of someone with visa on arrival who was not 'approved' for extension... unless they violated the law and got banned while they are in qatar.. why on the earth they wouldn't approved for any other reason?

or subject to approval of authorities-in-charge! I know a lot who were not given an extension and left after the expiration of the date stamped!

I said, go to immigration and ask for extension! Although there is a provision BUT subject for approval!

ok, again... you get a visa on arrival for 1 month. then you will extend it for another month. then you have to leave Qatar unless:

- you husband can sponsor you and you switch the visa on arrival to Family visa under your husband sponsorship

- you found a job and you switch the visa on arrival to Work Visa under your Company sponsorship..

clear?

If you have a passport where you can get a visit visa on arrival you can come and go as many times as you like

precisely I said, all queries should be asked by the poster in immigration office. If lucky enough, he can change his visa as you mentioned! What is nonsense there?

Are we aligned? if you are talking about the "walking" thing, then you don't understand me or better yet, you don't know me!

...the visa on arrival is valid for 1 month, and then extendable for another 1 month. Then you either have to leave the country or to switch your visa status to either family or work visa.

it's good. You can ask your limit when you go to the immigration! Of course, you have to pay all corresponding amount! The only thing free here is walking! But if someone "walk" the papers for you, then you have to pay! Good evening!

is there not a limit on how many times i can have it extended? is there a charge each time?

By anonymous• 20 Feb 2010 18:43

even before the expiration occurred, go to immigration and have it extended. You don't want to be an overstaying visitor here in Qatar, it's quite expensive!
