According to me, it isn't hypocrisy. You need a permit to be able to consume alcohol within the confines of your house.

It would be an added administrative overhead to check for Qatar liquor permits at the airport. And you've a QR spending limit per month which would be hard to monitor if liquor was bought from outside.

Also in the present situation, it is relatively easier to identify bootleggers as they've a record of who has bought what :-/

Medicine is under the control of the Health Ministry, it has to be approved by them.

yes, just put a sticker over the label saying "medicine".

There are restrictions in every country. The state collects alcohol tax. You are fighting against the interests of the state, not very wise.

Just go and buy it at QDC. Will save lots of inconvenience with the airport custom

make money from selling alcohol to others, while taking the stance that drinking it is un-Islamic. I don't think that would stand up Islamically but it's not my problem.

I'm sorry but it is double standards. They are quote happy to make money out of those who are leaving but bringing it in they want to control the sale and the price.

No double standards, just can't bring it in. Some people try sneaking it in but if caught, at best, the alcohol gets confiscated. At worst, they get sent back, might be without the liquor too.

Even in Qatar, alcohol is only available to purchase in one place, for which one needs a license anyway and transport direct to home. Alternatives - hotels or the few pubs which serve alcohol.

/Btw, since you know that when "u r leaving doha they have all kinds of liqour to offer but cant bring it inside..??" - so, you have been here before.. so why ask your question?

having booze available when you leave the country has nothing to do with the fact that you can't bring it in here. It is available for those traveling to countries that don't have strict laws controlling alcohol.

NO, you are not allowed to import alcohol into the country.

Only QDC is allowed to do so.
