Hi ,

The Indian People from Muscat who shifted to Qatar ..........

Can anyone tell me how is Muscat compared to Qatar .

I am new to Qatar , working as Sales Engineer , spending about QAR 2500 on Sharing Bachelor Accomodation , QAR 600 on Food & about QAR 200 extra = about QAR 3500 per month.

If I shift to Muscat what wud be the above costs for Sharing Accomodation , Food & Others ?

In other words, what wud be the monthly minimum expenses for an Engineer in Muscat ?

hey there, i was in muscat from 2000-06, those were the most memorable days of my life,

muscat is one of the best place to live in(but definetly not like kerala, lungi clad guys will be arrested)it has some of the best beaches in the world, food is cheap, you have liberty to go to church or a temple without any fear, and if you are a muslim some of the best mosques, sultan qaboos grand mosque is one of the best place to do namaz and they have a very good library too.

as far as cost of living is concern prices have gone up in the recent years a single bedroom flat may cost you around 250-300 riyals, a bachelor sharing may cost you around 100 riyals, as i said earlier food is cheap, u can have good indian food in the range of 500 baisa(0.5 riyals) to 1 riyal. and there are some high end resturants also, which may cost u around 5 riyals.

no doubt muscat is one of the best to live.

all the best.

Muscat is great!! i recently visited family. and they already re-built what was lost in the hurricane. actually not much to re-built because houses was still standing. but the cleaning process is done, some roads are still under con. but still great place. Accomodation is very very cheap,u can rent a whole villa for 170 OR with 3bedrooms,3bathrooms,and all of that. Food is just a bit cheaper than here. Transportation is way cheap. locals are very friendly. actually everyone is very friendly!! great views, lots of long roads so not much traffic, lots of nice places to go.

muscat is a beautiful place .....roads are broad and empty...their law implementation is also very tight...so its a very nice place....i dont know how it would be now after the recent hurricane(or watever) that hit it.....very sad...i was stayin there for 8 yrs...lots of places to go to.....surrounded by mountains on all sides..friendly people....nice climate. and as far as i know theres no sharing accomodation in muscat then u would be spending around 70-80 omani riyals per month and OR200 including food, sharing, transport.

Housing is less expensive in Muscat, but food and all other expenses are about the same. But the public transportation system is much better.
