Can anyone help?

Hi,

I am a French national living in the UK. A couple of weeks ago, I was offered a job in Qatar.
My future employer asked me to have my diplomas authenticated. I had certified copies of my diplomas made in France, they were then sent to the foreign office ministry in Paris were they were signed. They are now with the Qatari embassy in Paris to be signed once more.

My future employer tells me now the diplomas might have to be translated. Did anyone with French diplomas had the same problem?
If they had to be translated, did it need to be a certified translation?
And more importantly, does it mean I have to start the same process all over again (foreign office & Qatari embassy in Paris) with the copy of translated diplomas?

Thank you in advance for your reply

Thank you both for your replies.

I told my employer ( who is a privately owned company ) twice that my diplomas were French but he never talked about translation until now! I have now asked him to clarify if they need to be translated but he is not sure. He said he'll let me know soon. The problem is that living in the UK, it is very time consuming to get all this done!

Better if you will procede everything like thay are asking so no further headache, by the way to do it at home will be a bit cheaper rather than here.

Normally, you will have to translate them and re-certify them normally. I had mine accepted without translation because they were in Arabic and English.

You'd better make sure though before you do that. You say that your employer told you they "might" ask for translated copie! Well, ask him to confirm that and save you an unnecessary hassle in case they do not need translated diplomas.

By the way, it sounds like your employer is a government institution. If it is the case, get ready for more hassle and bureaucracy :)
