Buying a car
Hi,
I have read quite a few posts but still a little confused.
My wife and I will be moving to Qatar in August. We have read that it's often a good idea to buy a brand new car, rather than second hand. However, what options are available in terms of leasing, financing or HP? How long would you need to be in the country before you could buy a car? I imagine we will be renting a car for a few weeks at first but don't want this to be a long term plan.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you!
no, no..its very quick once the process gets going!

Oh ok - for some reason I thought it would take at least 3 months to sort the RP out. Supernurse, thanks for the advice.
Mine took about 2 weeks, RP that is,....we've got a car loan with the bank, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that is the only option to buy a car here....

Thank you for that advice - how long does it take on average for the RP to come through?
Did either of you buy your cars on finance/leasing? I'm quite curious as to how that works there.
Thanks
I'm the proud owner of a new car, think you need a RP first and a bank account then the bank sorts it out....there is a document you need from your company aswell....we got our new car within 2 weeks!Good luck..
