Bringing dog to Doha from EU country
Hi,
I want to take with me to Doha my Dog (moving here in October). I receive some info from Qatarpetrelocator, but in my opinion there are expensive, so I would like to do it on my own. Can you help me about it? I know that I should have a Qatar Ministry of Agriculture permission for bringing here a dog. Where I should send an application to receive such a permission? Many thanks.
QPR are your best bet, they know what they are doing and make it easy. I brought my dog from the UK, Doha Vets will get you the permit easily enough but you still have to get the dog off the plane and in to your car. Easier than it sounds. Customs men do not have a great deal of time for dogs and can be difficult to deal with unless you can speak Arabic. The dogs are left in a hot warehouse, noisy and busy and it all takes time. Also, you must consider Ramadan, it is not the best time to import a dog, both from a practical and a respectful point of view. Remember that October is the month where staff levels and working hours are different. Also, it cost me £2,300 to bring my dog in, I have met many people who have been charged considerably less by QPR. Just my experience..
Some breeds of dogs are restricted entry. So as long as your dog is not on the prohibited list, you should have no problems bringing in your dog on your own. However, since the 1st of August, rules have changed and all animals coming into or going out of Qatar must go Cargo. As a result you may find it a little hard on your own.
At least try to arrange for someone to help your with clearing your dog through customs, so that your pet doesn't have to wait hours.
Good Luck.

I will try to help you get the entry permit for your dog. You just need to email me the copy of pet passport and veterinary certificates.
