BEST West Bay/CC RE Agent?

By SequinMiner

Going on fourth day here in Doha and leaning toward West Bay and City Center. Hoping some QL'rs have some positive experiences and can recoomend a RE Agent who are specialists in these areas.

Any help very much appreciated as Wifey is on her way January 30th and will have me on the curb if I dont have her a tidy little list of properties to choose from.

Thanks all, please save my marriage ;) ;)

Hi Billy Boy,

Sorry about the long wait, buried at work and moving in.

Heres the positives: Easily the nicest place in Doha within my budget including West Bay Lagoon Villas. Saw a bunch of villas, a ton of Pearl apartments and a fair amount of West Bay Towers, chose Pearl even at a premium.

My recommendation is Tower 4 on the outside corner. Views are simply stunning and windows are 3/4 with nearly 270 degrees of view on the corners. Balconies are huge and curved to the exterior which lets you see even further. Bottom line is that its REALLY nice to come home too.

Downsides:

Internet remains a serious problem. Network access is currently free but limited to .2mb. Thats .2.

NOT a typo. Fix is inshallah... Upside free, downside, next to unusable. Can chat, cant Skype. Surf? More like water wings in the baby pool.

Deliveries! Count on doing business with a vendor once. Security here is rabid and requires the driver name, driver id#, driver mobile, Make and model of delivery truck, time of delivery, cant deliver after 4pm(moving target) and they want all this 3 days in advance. Even IF you have all this strong likelihood that you will have to go to the gate, take them on service roads, wind about be told 5 different routes and stories and be hassled with impossible BS all the way through. Average delivery time from the time the driver shows up is 2.5 hours. No exaggeration. Carrefoure will no longer deliver to me. Home Centre will no longer deliver to me, the mattress guy will no longer deliver to me. You get the point. Get what you need because vendors will only do it once.

Have hired a maid and will try to start that tomorrow. Should be interesting.

It is still Doha, so dont expect things to ever go smoothly, impossible tasks are surprisingly easy and easy tasks like changing lightbulbs require a call to maintenance (spot halogens)

That said I wouldnt want to live anywhere else. Drive times have been a breeze and FAR better than getting to anywhere else. And coming home is truly nice.

Best bet is to work with Joseph at Direct Real Estate if you find the unit you want and you need to close the deal. He is easily the most professional and capable agent I've worked with. Second would be Louise at Mirage Properties and Tamara at the Pearl Tower 4 P3. Third would be Coreo. Pricing runs anywhere from 18k to 25 depending on the unit. Yeah you can get a Villa easily for that. Yes the ZigZag has units at 13.5. None of them have island kitchens, granite countertops, basin sinks, automated ac and dimmer switches in every room. Its a quality of life thing.

Hope that helps. :) Drop me a PM and you're welcome to stop by and check it out without the pressure of an RE agent, plus I know a couple that still have a unit at the right price in T4 on the 8th floor.

Cheers,

Steven

Sequin - I am currently in the process of moving as well and have started looking.

What was your view of the apartments you saw? and general prices? If you dont mind me asking what kind of price are you paying for your apartment now? any advice would be much appreciated!

Aye, would definitely prefer a balcony if available but not a deal breaker.

The Westbay CC area is pretty small, so you should be able to drive yourself around and visit each building. (maybe a dozen buildings) I think they all have onsite management that can show you what is available. Personally, I think the Pearl and Falcon Towers adjacent to the 4 Seasons Hotel are the best units and best located especially if you are able to join the Four Seasons Spa / Health Club. Al Farden Tower (where the BMW dealer is located) is very nice, but no balconies if that is important to you. 44 Westbay Tower also has very nice units and great views from the upper floors. The residences at the W Hotel are also quite nice, but no balconies.

Awesome, thanks for the site Olive Pictures look great and will check it out this weekend!! Thanks!!

PS, to anyone else hitting this thread, initial reaction after call with Craig from Mirage (RE Agent who posts in QL)was very positive! Responded to a single post here in QL with a call half a day later, call was very easy and he understood exactly what I was requesting, followed it up with confirmation of same in several emails that same day! Calling off corporate relo agent to see how Mirage plays out. So far very impressed.

ASAS is nice I have a couple of friends who live there, Beverly Hills is nice too, as are the W residences. I second Mandi, just go to their offices and don't bother with an agent, you'll get a better offer that way.

Falcon Towers is my favorite, but see also Beverly Hills Towers in West Bay. And I'm doing great, thanks! Sitting at home with about 8 inches of snow, more to come, but I'll be back in Doha Wednesday!

Asas, Falcon, Al Fardan Towers. The residences at Four Seasons, Grand Hyatt. I'm not sure I'd bother with an agent, just go to their offices on premises.
