We are a couple in our 40's form the UK relocating to Doha for two years. Can anyone recommend a good place to live. We have grown up kids that may want to visit occasionally. So far we are inclined towards West Bay apartments so we can easily go out in the evenings but what will be the disadvantages. What is it like on a compound when you don't have kids?

The compounds can be noisy, that's true and a little like living in a fishbowl. I like the apartments in West Bay, some are very nicely done and have convenient parking etc. But the major issue in Doha is proximity to work.
