Hi there, can anyone help me please with the step by step set up for my belkin wireless router, I tried to search in the net with the help but cant seems to find one.
Any help will be very much appreciated... Many thanks
I have tried everything as suggested but didn't work, FYI I have a mac and I am kind of new on this one so its probably the other reason why I cant get it sorted... Do you know anyone who come to your house to fix this???? Please let me know... Many thanks....
I worked on Belkin and these guys are different .. something weird about them :) Try googling that as I have no screen shots of the last configuration made to that router ... you will see that the default IP address for Belkin is 192.168.2.1 ... the Gateway is something completely different and had nothing to do with this ... to other clients connected to the network and let's say it is a simple one as home ... the gateway would be the router IP ...
the Gateway on Q-Tel routers would be 192.168.1.254 and you can change everything ... change the IP ... the gateway ... just a matter of IP address game and ... it is a funny game :)

The IP varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. For example linksys is 192.168.1.245. Google "router IPs" or something and you'll find a list.
You belkin product number is not coming up as a product on their website. But if you can find out the correct IP, connect to the router with a network cable and log into it, it should be easy to configure.
the IP address given there and the user account will work for a linksys router but not a Belkin ... just have to clear this so the guy won't get confused later ...
Best Regards

You'll not get any good documentation guide detailing how to go about installing this product. Belkin are pathetic in their documentation so you'll have to do it the hard way which is your way.
connect everything as shown in the installation guide and then login using your internet browers as r7 has pointed out.
Thanks for the reply, It's a belkin wireless model no F5D7630-4A I have tried the belkin website before but did not work, unfortunately I left the installation CD back in the UK.I will do as suggested above and see what happen, many thanks
did not come with an installation CD? You did not mention the router model so we can help you better. Be careful when you open your IE browser or Firefox to configure this router. Most of the ones that I faced got a different subnet than the other routers. It goes like 192.168.2.1 the username is 'admin' and the password 'blank' I mean there is no password by default leave it empty and then login ...
Tell me if this work for you and from there we can go ... Another thing, most of these routers does not work with Q-Tel anymore and you have to make a bridge between Q-Tel Router and your Belkin Router to make it work as wireless ...
Hope that helped somehow ...

The obvious thing to do is go to http://www.belkin.com/support/
From that page either enter your product part number or select your product using the step by step browser. You'll then see lots of FAQs for your product, as well as user guides and software updates. I'm sure they'll tell you what to do.
