Ladies, gents,

I'm wondering how I can protect myself against malicious landlords or crooks.

Is it normal to pay a month's rent in advance + a month's rent as a deposit, both in cash? And if so, what's the guarantee for me? How can I be sure that this guy is talking the truth? Who do I turn to in case of conflict?

In my case, I'm looking at underrenting from a Qatari. What can I do to protect myself? The contract itself seems reasonable.

yes its normal here to pay 1 month advance and 1 month deposit, in some cases other landlords are asking up to 3 months cash out.the contract is binding and a legal document it will guarantee u that whatever stated there is agreed upon by you and the landlord when you concured and signed it.the contract seems reasonable you said,well nothing to worry about.
