Assalamo alaykum.
Helllo everyone. I am from Hong Kong and new to this forum. Recently I have applied the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers scholarhip at Qatar University. They will announce the result this month but I would appreciate any comments and feedback on this program.

If you have studied this program before, would you mind sharing your experience with me please ? My level of Arabic is at Beginner level. Is the course very difficult ? I am worried if I can follow the course, given my level of Arabic.

How about accomodation and other things ?

I know there is a long break in January. Can we travel outside Qatar ?

Thank you very much. I appreciate any comments and advice.

Thanks. I checked their website. It should be a good place to practise Arabic and meet Qatari people.

Fanar is a center that promotes islamic studies and culeture. As part of their activities they offer arabic classes for a very reasonable price. If you are in Doha you should definitely visit the place and ask more about their activities. They are located opposite to Sook Qaqif and ever texi driver knows the place.

Actulay i don't know how many students will be in each class, but maybe 10 to 20 students, definitly you will practice alot, and they will arrange visiting for all of you to different places.

in hostel room, you will have all facility for studying, but i don't know if there is Library in hostel or no, and you have University Library.

Thanks. That is great. If for Beginners level, what kind of classes we attend each week ? How many students in each level ? Do we get to practise a lot ?

And can you recommend a good place to do homework and study ? I personally don't like to spend too much time inside my bedroom although they provide you with a desk. Is there a library near the female hostel ?

thank you very much for your advice.

That is a good advice. Is it easy to make Arab friends in Doha ? Are there any clubs in QU where you can meet and make local friends ?

How about the city of Doha itself ? Are there many activities e.g. Yoga classes ? I have never been to the Middle East before, so it would be quite an experience.

Is the hostel clean and comfortable ? They said the scholarship even includes 3 meals. Are they provided in the hostel ? Also what if I want to go out other than classes ? Are there any public transport or people take taxi outside the hostel ?

Thank you very much. I really appreciate any advice.

Hi

Great as it is scolarship

you will stay in hostel, it is 2 smester course if it is one year. But the important thing you have to make friendship with arab speaking ppl to improve your language either it wont be enough for you wat studying in class, cuz most students with you will be from different nationality, and they only speaking english like Asian, American , Europe, African.

Other thing you don't have to worry about it

any question you can ask me

Leave what Snakyy said go to Fanar, it is Arabic Learning Center

Good Luck
