will the rents fall after doha asian games
In 1999-2000, there was an upsurge in 2-3bedroom duplex villas housed in compounds with its own clubhouse and swimming pool priced between2500-4000qrs, today it stands at 12000qrs or more.
year 2003, an old 2bed flat in a rundown building fetched 1200-1500qrs, a small new 2bed flat was 2000qrs and spacious new 2bed flat was 2500qrs.3bed flats were anything 2500-4000qrs. All affordable.
Today a new 2bed flat (actually a pigeonhole carved out of 6bedroom villa) is priced at 5000qrs or more, and a 3 bed flat is more than 6000qrs.
These are prices i have come across while house hunting, it used to be favourite passtime of mine, but not anymore.
Do you think the rents will fall after the Doha Asian Games, as everyone has been buzzing about for almost a year, as I know lots of expats are waiting for the games to be done with in the hope that the rents will fall.
The Games Village is supposedly going to be taken by Hamad for their employees (excellant move, all companies should provide their employees with accomodation).UmmSaid, Khor, and other industrial cities are encouraging their own township to house their own employees, again a very good move, as it reduces the transport hassle, except for kids travelling to school, but they usually have schools in their township too.
There are so many buildings coming up,shudnt lots of flats be vacant then?
what do u feel regarding this?
