Hello

I have been trying to get a job in Doha for past 2 years but the minute they hear i am single its another story?

I am a British Muslim girl and have worked with people from all walks of life, mainly Male Dominated, i have done well for me here but in Qatar its just another story.

I come from an IT background and boy you would think it would be easy to find a job.. more than my work they are all to curious to know why im not married..

WHY oh WHY!

i dont think so it should be the issue.

you work should matters , if you are good enough for the position they can take you.

make advertisment in gulf-time inshallah you will get the job.

Sometimes and i'm saying only sometimes. it's who you know rather than what you know.

Hi,

I am most sure it is not a gender issue,

and if you are a muslim,

then you for sure must know that you will get a job not befor nor after, but when it is time.

till then have faith in God and your your self.

Wishing you and all the Best

never lose hope...for sure you'll have a job soon.but as other's said..dont just depend on online application, and advertising. be patient and knock the doors of potential employers. Being single has got nothing to do on your job hunting. just stay positive and goodluck!

they have said everything... why would you ever think that gender, civil status, religion, nationality, color of hair, eyes, etc... affects your chances for a job placement,?, (discrmination is rampant here but not in this way...)

try their suggestions, or try reading job hunting journals,,, maybe ur not doin it the right way,,,\

sometimes when we get frustrated, we tend to be blind... try focusing on what you want and see what oppurtunities you have, then try give it a good start...

good luck!

The Reason might be that you are not approaching Companies in the Right Way, not using Head Hunting Companies or that your CV is poorly written. It could also be that the Companies you have been approaching are rather hiring Cheaper Labour from the Sub Continent than from Europe.

I don’t think it’s impossible to find a job with IT background, but it’s not the norm, most single ladies work in Qatar Airways, hotels, banking, education and some in other industries.

The question is what’s in it for you, is it financially feasible or not, are you willing for some extended working hours, or weekend calls since we know in the IT business how demanding it can be for support.

Hi there.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a job in Doha just because you're a single woman. I am also muslim, single and from London, and came here several months back. I would suggest you get on the websites for specific companies such as QP, or the QFC and take it from there. I know many single women here - so that shouldn't make a difference. Good luck!

It is not like that, you can make an ad in Gulftimes newspaper. just keep trying in daily basis following up the Job ads in local newspaper
