what is your salary expectations

If you apply a job somewhere and they ask you what is ur salary expectation what will you say?....some are saying its not good idea to tell them bcz it may be a trick and maybe the company wants to offer u morethan u expect. some say its good to say what you are looking for ...my opinion is : its better not to tell them.

You need to answer the question. Not answering will show your lack of confidence and inability to take decisions.
Before going to interview, do a research about the company, market and position, assess yourself and then quote your price for the services you are going to provide to the company...
It depend on u if u r a strong candidate and fully capable for that post then you can negotiate better by answering them,You should be confident and depend upon urs qualification and experties.
I think instead of responding directly to the question, you might want to ask them what is the salary range for that position and your qualification / experience
Depends on one's capabilities. If candidate is exceptional, company might even try to match his expectations even if it exceeds their initial thoughts/budgets on it...
