$10,000 mth should be the starting point.

If you think your worth more, or if you think you are worth less, You are Right either way.

Thanks for all the great input! I just found this site today and now I have lots of great research answered. I have considered all points and yes, $10,000/month should be a good wage anywhere.

Thanks Again to everyone and if we move I hope to thank many of you personally.

I seriously think people who think 10,000 US Dollars a month is not enough to live in Doha should take a HIKE!!

Unless u are an investment banker or super-cardio surgeon earning 350,000 to 500,000 USD annually living in manhattan.

Of course u can live well.

But more than the amount, what YOU have to decide is :

- How much experience u have..how much u make right now as take home...what kind of a lifestyle u have ?

- If the move is worth it, in terms of savings and attaining ur financial golas for building a nest egg..go for it.

- Make sure you have everything written down in contract

- As you might have realised so far...housing is kind of a pain. Make sure they arrange that for you.

Hey Buddy,

The Middle East in regards to housing is very expensive, you can get a 3bedroom villa +-14,000-18,000 QARper month a 4bedroom villa will cost around 18,000-25,000 QAR per month depending on size and location. The exchange rate is 3.63QAR/USD.

Most Expat contracts include housing, schooling, car, 1 family trip home per year, all gas/electicial bills paid by the company? That is in fact the reason most western expats remain in the middle east.

The house holding shopping i estimate to me 50%+ higher than the UK. Depends how you eat ofcourse?

I would also check with the schools regarding availablity prior to excepting the position, school placement is very hard to come by... get there phone number talk to them and ask availability! The 3 schools which i know about are Doha college, Park house english school and the American school, check them out on the net and make sure you make that call, there is nothing worst then getting here and finding out your kids cant go to school here.... and believe me it happens!

Doha is a very family kinda place, so you should fit in very well with the location community.

Regards,

Marco

if it's 9.99 k including rent, then it's going to be higher middle class.

If it's 9.9k plus rent, u r looking at moderate luxury

Thanks for the answer (and questions). Your estimate for housing is for rent? What does a 3 bedroom house sell for?

The company provides one trip home annually. They make no mention of medical coverage nor a car.

Thanks Again

9900 is about QR 36,500

For housing in 3 bedroom villa will cost you min QR 15.000

School in DESS (Doha English Speaking school) cost QR 8600 a term. American School cost alot more (not too sure with the figures, but you have to forked in the capital fee yearly QR 15000 per child per year).

How about flight home? Medical? Car?
