Watch Your Money!!!

New money rule went into effect today.....

You can no longer spend the "old" style QR 500, 100 or 50 notes.

The release in the newspaper only mentioned 500 & 100 notes but the shops have been told to reject 50's also.

Be carefull...

* The new notes are fragile where that cellophane strip is especially if you fold your money as it is very close to the center....

* If the strip is damaged the note will be rejected....

* Shops wil not accept old notes or damaged notes but THEY WILL GIVE THEM TO YOU as change - so check every note...

This is another one of the bazaar things about living here, with all their resources they cannot make durable bank notes nor do they have an efficient method of replacing them. It is all left to the consumer like it is his fault. See you all at QNB after your notes have been rejected!!

Wasn't that against the burning only?

Since you are a pharmacist, what do you recommend against Jelly Fish bites?

You can exchange for the next 10 years but ONLY at QCB to official government bank.

They already denied my notes

It seems to me that if you have old notes you can always exchange them at a bank.

They can not just declare money invalid from one day to another.

Take a look.....

http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=275576&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16

Please note no mention of QR50 notes.

Now I must go to QCB

This was a previous QL discussion.

http://www.qatarliving.com/node/391643

I also read the article in Gulf Times. I will try to find it. Yesterday I looked and found a couple old notes and took them to the exchange and they exchanged them no problem as yesterday was the last day of acceptance. Today I was embarrassed at lunch because they rejected my QR 50 note saying it was old. I replied it was only for 500 & 100 according to the article. They said 50's aso. I had to scrounge up every thing I had to pay the tab even though I had 3 "old" 50's. As usually in Qatar NOBODY ever knows the staight scoop on ANYTHING!!

Watch your money.

Now I have 3 50's with the headache of finding QNB the only place where you can be properly exchange them.
