Well I guess if you bought a place in the pearl

then you wouldn't need a sponsor. So do some research on the pearl. Next item of business: Does Q-tel ban the websites related to poker/gambling?

i was under the impression that i would not need a sponsor if i could buy a place to live this would allow me to get residency. however if poker is banned or if i have no prospect of citizenship then my plan wouldnt work. but i wonder if qatar has a specific law against poker since its not exactly gambling.

Who will be your sponsor?

All expatriate workers in Qatar require sponsorship. You are not allowed to work for yourself and gambling is illegal here, so your plan is seriously flawed. Do more research. Good luck.

Oh, and living together here without being married is illegal also.

Gambling is illegal here. Living here without visa (meaning job and employer) is illegal. Qatar is NOT tax-free for Americans. Otherwise, your plan is just fine.

I don't know if you are serious in your wish or its just a fancy dream.

What attractions did you see here in Qatar that made you wish to live in here and spend your time and money in playing poker and roaming around the plenty construction and road works in Doha?.

I hope the 6 shopping malls and cornich are so attractive to spend all days within.

You can come here for a short visit and see how is it here before you deside.

Bear in mind that there are no poker playing here or any of such casino's, otherwise your time will be spent within police stations.

Are you planning to stay without any source of income?

If you are that rich, why don't you plan to go to more fancy places such as Neice or Cann

Regarding citezenship, Just don't dream of it.

sry i dunno how 2 reply. yes i did not exactly choose qatar in fact any of these gulf states would suit me equally well: kuwait, bahrain, qatar, uae and oman. oman is my last choice however. the main incentives are the high standard of living, free high quality social services, zero income tax and exotic atmosphere. Unfortunately i am aware or at least under the impression that none of these states allow people to become citizens in the normal fashion. even if it were possible there might be laws against being a poker player or other laws which would not be acceptable to me such as having to be married if living with a woman. i would like to separate fact from fiction and have the same questions about each country on that list. if you can help with definite answers that would be so appreciated by me and anyone else who stumbles onto this site. thx
