U.S. Citizen to marry Tunisian in Qatar-both Muslim
I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience or can give me some advice.
I am an American living and working here in Qatar.
1. If marry a Tunisian citizen (also, Muslim and living and working here in Doha) is it better to marry (legally speaking) here in Qatar or in Tunisia?
2. Will both countries (his-Tunisia and mine-U.S.) recognize the marriage as legal marriage if we do marry in Qatar? What will we need to do officially to have it recognized. Will we have problems if we go to the U.S. and will he need to do anything to travel with me?
3. Also, God willing we have children. What citizenship will the child have? U.S./Tunisian/Qatari one, both or all three?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Do go and have a chat with the consul at the Embassy. You will have to make sure the marriage is legally registered in order for it to be recognized. BTW, he may still have problems with a US visa since marriage to a US citizen does NOT automatically confer any special status (much less citizenship.)
u both can marry here in court, however they may ask for letters from your sponsors specially from the lady.
your kids will follow either the father or the mother.
check the US or tunisian embassy
Go ahead it’s your decision good luck to all of you 2,
