Traffic Violation for parking opp City Center

Everyone might have noticed many cars parked on the opposite side of city center, the fourth lane of the new road from al dana tower to ras gas building and beyond.Normally i do not get space for parking there and it is always full. Last week i went there and i thought fortunate to to get a space and there were lot of cars parked. But when i came back to my shock police pasted a sticker for traffic violation almost all cars.I have to pay 500QR fine now

I have also noticed many people are parking there still and it seems to be a good collection point.I thought since many people were parking there continously there should have been some warning pasted there.

Anyway when you go to city center, remember not to park on the fourth lane which seems to be a road for cars taking right turn

I was about to initiate a thread informing everyone of what i see on the opposite road of City Center, however, i found this already posted.

To my concern, its wrong to an extend penalizing those car parked on the other side of the road. Its the failure of the City Center, also the road authorities to provide enough parking space with the ratio of the customers visiting. Also, those cars are parked only on the fourth lane of the big road which dosent run huge traffic & therefore 3 lanes are more than enough. If the road authorities fail to provide the parking space, atleast government should consider those people who couldnt find parking in the parking lot & had to park their cars on the opposite road risking themselves with their family along with children to cross the main road where cars drive away at crazy speed. who would do this if he can find a parking in the CC parking itself??!

Perhaps, Traffic Dept. are collecting thru source of fines to construct another parking area ;) lolz

I was never fined, but i feel pity on those who are.

I would suggest to provide mark the fourth lane as a parking area, atleast to reduce the cars getting stuck in the CC parking area.

Abdulla . Z , yes there is a solution - don't park your vehicle on a lane that is meant for flowing traffic.

Dear Irora,Good that you share this with all...if single person does mistake or 100 person do same mistake.mistake remains mistake... so never think if many ppl park there car wrong u r safe... always follow rule...its hard to get parking on city centre at weekend...choose another place to shop if possible..

You know its a traffic lane yet you still parked there. Would you park in the middle lane? No, so why would you park in any lane. My office is close to there and I watch the police hand out tickets nearly every day. Good money maker for them.

If many people are parking there, that doesn't automatically make that a legally designated parking spot.

You took a risk and now you've to pay for it. I've often seen parking fine stickers on vehicles that are parked along the sidewalks inside the City Center parking lot too.

There are lots of spots like the one mentioned by the OP. You'll see people parking regularly, and one fine day the cop comes along and gives em all a shiny blue sticker for the windshield.

The other places I've seen this happen are on the Bank street/ Grand Hamad - and in that bylane in front of Al Mustafawi building on Al-Saad street and that too during morning working hours.

Ofcourse they do! what do you think fubar? the police will wait there for him to know if the owner of the vehicle is a worker? to the person posted this, it is your fault why you are being fine somehow so why whining now? it doesnt mean that if you see lots of people are doing that it doesn't means it the RIGHT THING! RIGHT?

I *never* park inside the City Center carpark on the weekends, I always park on the street.

If the police are going to fine people for parking there, then there's no way I'll bother going to City Center on weekends.

What happens on weekdays when the workers in the towers park their cars in the same place? Do the police give them tickets too now?

Ridiculous....
