I have seen all the info about getting a drivers license and about driving in general and I am thinking I might be using the taxi's a lot. Are they hard to order? And how $ from compound areas to shopping center? thanx.

you will find a lot of private pickups and sedans outside City Center and Lulu. Get in touch with one of these guyz, collect their contact numbers. It will work much much better than public transport.

I have my SUV, but at times when its on service I had a tough time in booking a taxi's. It seems Karawa has more Lemo's than Taxi's, every time I called they offered me a lemo.

During Ramadan you will have to call atleast 2 days before. Normally one day should be fine. They are cheap (city center to Al-Ahli hospital QR 20 MAX). They are very prompt.

amnong the most infant not to mention among the worst public transport systems in the world...unless you're willing to splurge on a 'limo' each time you want to go round to the supermarket, get a lisence, the driving's insane but you'll get used to it...goodluck...

it's a bit tough to book a Karwa here, as they are almost always fully booked.. for instance, you need a taxi for this afternoon and you only called this morning, your chances of getting booked are very slim,.. but there are times that I got lucky when i need taxi same day, they manage to book one for me.. better you book in advance..
