Sudden drop in cigarette sales

Hey..
Any opinions on why the drop in cigarette sales in the market as well as the duty free shops.
Reports mention an extensive drop in sales in the year 2010.
Part of it is because of the ban in certain countries - Ban of not smoking in public areas.
However, bans have been placed since 2007, so why the drop in 2010??
Any ideas?? If you are aware of any more bans, kindly mention them.

btw....cigs are the cheapest compared to any country in the world....atleast from what I have seen.....but then I have never had a smoke in my life so I wont be regarded as a credible source.....;-)
Recession has just hit Qatar now....i think companies are taking advantage by offering less to the staff.....staff need to save and hence the reduction in sales.....
because people purchased in 2009 in bulk fearing price hike in 2010. Now they are just consuming from their in house inventories.

of sales report? any way most smokers consume less during hot season compare to winter or cold season.... aside from government initiative to put a stop to smoking public...
Last month was the NO- Smoking Campaign...jejejeje.. Climate also affects. The Price of cigarette here is very high compared to other countries,and most especially the Public Health Education Dissemination of it's Bad Effects to Health. love love love!
