Hi all, am having to move back to the UK, can anyone recommend a decent service to ship some boxes of possessions back. It doesn't have to be air freight, sea will also do. I just need a reputable company that won't cost a tonne of money. Any advice welcome.
i can second what britexpat said about only sending back what you actually need.
I moved from qatar to bahrain in 2011 and discovered that it can be quite expensive to ship to and from qatar by sea freight as i was advised everyone is sent to dubai first for shipping so its adds lot of cost( that may have changed by now but beware ). consider air freight if items are small and of high value and don't forget the UK customs rules for anything under a certain age ( they were very thorough with me when i shipped from Malaysia as well ). Some items you are better off selling ( great second hand market in qatar) and buying again in UK.

Mike: Having gone through the process and couple of times as an expat, I would advise that you only ship what you think will be "useful" and practical. For example I one shipped back a large sofa and American double doored fridge freezer , only to find out that they would not fit into my new home..
