Salary Range

I'm a single female looking at moving to Doha. Can somebody give me some details with regards to cost of living - I haven't yet received my proposed salary and would like to gauge it against the costs of living.

I'm concerened primarily about Accommodation per month. I don't think I will be receiving an allowance - is this common? - by your discussion everybody seems to be getting living allowances in their package????

Dear all,

I have received an offer to work in Doha as follows:

8000 basic

8000 Accomodation

1000 Transportation

Medical insurance + Tickets+ 50% tution fees in local qatary schools.

I am internal auditor with 2 american certificates and 10 years of experience.

ia this a good offer and what is the difference between local & international schools (fees & languages)?

True, dweller. But the unscrupulous agents are causing this bubble and with all bubbles it will pop sooner or later. The prices in Doha are astronomical! I'm just glad I'm not the one paying for mine, but if it continues more and more companies are going to stop paying for housing and just give stipends...something will have to be done soon.

Yeah I know it's a tough question given the variables, where you live etc. But it's hard to decipher whether the salary range offered is very good when you are living outside of a country with no economic info of where you are heading.

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully I'll get an offer soon.........

I hope you are not counting on rents decreasing after the Asian Games. It is not their staff who are the cause of increased rents. I doubt very much if rents will drop

Liz, despite what the previous poster says, I doubt you will find anything to your tastes for 3500.... I would say minimum is a couple of thousand above that (given that you are from NZ and will be used to a certain style of living)....

It is very hard to answer your question - you are basically asking, How much do I need to live in Qatar? I don’t think anyone can answer that for you, but if you post a salary range, it's much easier to break it down and say, Well, with Expense A + Expense B + Expense C, you will have Leftover Salary X.... if you know what I mean...

Best of luck.

Can I suggest that you look at some of the previous threads.

The topics that you mention have been covered time and time again. I am sure your questions will be answered.
