Salary and family

Could anybody tell me if £3k a month (approx 17500QR I think) is a good deal.
Also get free accomodation (4bed villa), all bills paid, flights home each year, 75% discount on school fees and some discount on club memberships etc.

I have 2 children and don't really want my wife to have to work - is this possible and could we still save a bit to send home?

Thanks for your help in advance

Depends really on your lifestyle, but still it is a decent income but don't expect to live a very luxurious life with this salary, you will be able to save very little unless you practice strict spending control.

This is why it is unwise to post such questions on QL.. Different people will give different feedback. I know people quite happy living on 10k qr a month, yest will advise others that they need at least 30k.

So, It is better to use the cost of living "guide" and make your own judgment.

Thanks for all of your posts guys - a little concerning! Is the sample 'Cost of Living' on this site way off the mark then? As, judging by that, 17.5k a month appears to be more than enough if all housing and bills are taken care of, but some of your comments don't support this.

you need to be making 1 1/2 times more than your salary in your home country. That's without all the benefits thrown in. Check the tab about schools under the Qatar Guide to the right on this website. 25% of school fees can be a lot as cindelouisa said. You will struggle in my opinion. Doha is a hard place to live, they need to make it worth the while.

You did not mention what is your job and what experience you have in it.

The offer is peanuts. Raised the minimum to QR 35K per month otherwise, you will be disgusted when you are here in Doha.

Not enough in my opinion

The remaining 25% for both children will be minimum 10k each per year (£1800 per year per child) that is QR 2000 per month.

Life is expensive in Qatar.

I would negotiate the full school fees or additional QR 5000 per monrh

If the basic expenses will be free like house, bills, mobile, transportation and school, and take note schools are expensive here. It's good but try to negotiate more.

Family dine out-min 500

Petrol-500 a month

Groceries weekly-max 1,500

And also it defend in your social life.
