Currently i am offered a salary of 10k (including accomodation) in a company for my 6 years experience in IT field. Is this salary enough for such experience ? And whether is it enough here to live with family ?

Abin, I just saw a previous post of yours telling that you currently work for Business Objects in Bangalore. I can now tell you that 10000 QR is not a right salary for you with or without accommodation. You have scope to negotiate. More over you wouldn't get the exposure out here that you wouldn't be getting there.

since now i have come to know that the salary offered might not serve the purpose of saving...i will try to negotiate for better one.

10K salary is okay if the company will provide your accomodation and transportation.

If not you will suffer the high cost of accomodations ranging from 3.5k to 6k .

you talk to them for an increase, at the same time be very careful because this period there are so much job hunters.(so that someone else will not take your place ).TRADE CAUTIOUSLY

Further to Abin, look at the costs in india and here, do a math and see what you save in india vs what you probably could save here. There are lot of posts here referring to cost of living in Qatar. See them and do a math. That would be better. Don't try to jump if you are not saving at least 1.5 to 2 times that what you are saving in india.

Bobb, that's exactly what I said, he has to compare that with his present condition in india. I am from india and I know that for a software engineer of that experience, 50% of them (at least) would get the same salary as what is mentioned in the post within india itself. Moreover they are sent abroad on site from the indian companies. All this with a better life style. So thats why I said its in general. Its for the OP to assess based on his current situation. I know lot of them who cry coming here telling that they had a better condition in india and made a mistake selecting a low paid job here without assessing the situation here correctly.

@jon I think this amount is not realistic for a newcomer. If he gets the accommodation over 10K salary, I think he should go for it and wait few years for a better offer somewhere in the region.

If he already had a decent job in India, I don't think he would be considering this option at all. At the end of the day, this would be good both professional and life experience.

Nothing less than 15 to 16k if its my opinion

if that is so then what would be the ideal salary in pvt sector as it is difficult to get into govt sector ,enough for my experience ??

Being a software engineer, Qatar wouldn't give much opporunities as you have in India. More over, as I understand you are an indian and hence I do not think the standard of life you would enjoy in india for this experience can be obtained with that sort of a salary in Qatar. However its a call you need to take based on your current situation in India but I am telling you this generally considering a software engineer's life in india and seeing a lot of my friends back home. Also note that 10000 is not a great salary for your class and experience (In general again)

If your salary is 10K you will have a very hard time getting permission to bring your family. Housing will eat up most of your salary and you will not be able to afford schooling for any children. You need at least 12K plus housing plus schooling.

I understood he will have to pay for his accommodation? If it's company provided, this is the fair deal not only for Indians and Filipinos.

accept it if u r indian, and good thing is they r giving u accommodation. u have to spend maximum 2000 riyals for food with family and the rest depends on you how u control your expenses.

Yup, this should be taken only as a kick-off, any GULF experience will open more opportunities in the whole Middle East area so everything can only goes up.

It will be tough in the beginning though

yeah if u bring family along then dont expect to save and u will be just fine. after few years u can move to abu dhabi or u can move back to ur own country at better post and money

1 bed lounge and washroom cost between 3 to 4k depending upon what kinda life style u wish to maintain. but i think ur still young and u shouldnt wait for next opportunity to come knocking

I don't know what is the usual salary for IT field and ur experience but I can assure u one thing. If u have a wife and maybe one pre-school kid, maybe u could manage to have a (very) modest life here with that money. For one bedroom apartment in Doha u will have to fork out at least 4K and the rest is barely enough for food, car installment, fuel, cell phone bill and such.

10K salary is the regulations minimum u need to have in order to bring ur family with u, so this also tells u something...

Accommodation is quite expensive here which will eat more or less half of your salary and Private firms will not offer more than that.

over here it depends which country are u from.

there and yes salary is ok for surviving decently.
