reverse osmosis system/water quality

Quick question for all you QLers.

Should I bring my reverse osmosis device from the US or buy one in Qatar? I've been using my contraption for over a year and the water i get from it tastes amazing! But i don't know if it will fit (connect to) the water faucet in qatar...are the water faucets in qatar different sizes than the ones in the states? dumb question, i know, but the water quality thread on QL gave me quite a scare!

thanks!

Thanks guys, i certainly will bring my system with me! At first i was hesitant about it but after reading so much about the water quality (well the pipes that the water travels through), I am convinced that it will be worth it!

JJ864, i'll let you know if i end up needing to call britanica!

have a great day!

RO is not expensive if u look at it in the long run. I had installed RO at my house and also recommended for my office which they have installed at all my office locations. Currently it costs Qr 2k including installation with filters. replacement filters cost Qr100 which have to be replaced every 8 months as the water we get is not that great quality (you should see the filter after 8 months) The quality of the water from the RO is like sparkling water its great. I have a family of 3, and its a perfect solution if your are staying in an appartment.

I know couple of ppl in office did a one week project browzing through the web and in the end decided its not good for young children!!! but now they are drinking RO water in the office!!

my personal advise go for it, I used Britanica water.... if you need their number let me know.

I would say that if at all you want to use reverse osmosis bring enough catridges and base unit from US. It is definetly costly here. Further,I myself being and environmental engineer have never used RO and neither bottled water. what i do is boil the water and filter through batch type ceramic filter candle. The best but cumbersome. Mine is a small family. Principally it depends on raw water quality, qatar has good qaulity.
