Assalamu Alaikum Dr. Sadia,

Yea, you are so lucky that you are moving to that great land and its truth that cost of living in KSA is very cheap then here. But my advice is that make your intention that you are not moving to KSA to earn money change your intention which is that you will do effort to spread Islam from there to whole over the world as it was spread before from there If you make that intention so you will be autometically earning money but the same time you are getting reward(Ajr) to have a intention to spread Islam.

(Explanation of Hadeeth is "Inamal Aamaalo Bin Niyyaat"]

Jazak ALLAAH Khair. May ALLAAH give you right success of this world and here after "ameen"

I am absolutely not bigoted at all!

What a silly thing to say,,,,

However, what I have ever heard about Saudi, and no-one has ever mentioned anything different in front of me, including Saudis, is that it is not know as a nice place to live, for anyone,,,,

BTW, I though you were leaving QL?

that's what I came to know from my friends there ??? any way it depends on your life style... I have been there a couple of times. Saudi is a big country with a big population. Many are not educated like the Qataris here and i need not have to say how illiterate people behave.

mmyke, 'objectively' sounds a funny word when you say it. You are one of the most bigoted persons on QL.

Here you are:

if you recruiter is a govt related entity then you dont have to worry. If it is a private concern, then you need to double check them. Many doctors have been taken for a ride by so-called polyclinics in Saudi.

Salaam,

Dr sadia, on the other hand please take every precaution before proceeding, do not overlook any red signals or indications that would make you feel that there is something fishy.

There are many unscrupulous agents in your and my country who are willing to rip us off at any cost.

Please consider the following questions

1) How did you get the offer

2) Are the people contacting you genuine

3) Are they asking you to send any money over wire transfer or upfront in their office for the visa

4) Do you have any contact at the hospital in saudi who can confirm this vacancy with you.

5) Are they offering you a Azad visa ? if yes then DO NOT ACCEPT it any cost, according to the saudi law book there is nothing such as an azad visa. You may be stuck if you walk into the Azad visa stuff

Generally In my country a normal saudi visa process would be

1) get the degree stamped from the university

2) Get the degree stamped from the local government

3) Get the degree stamped from the central government

4) Get the degree stamped by the Saudi Embassy

Send the documents, then the other party in saudi sends the contract paper.

READ the contract paper carefully coz once you have signed it you are bound by it till you are in saudi, do not overlook anything in the contract paper just in the zeal of the moment.

Then the candidate will resend the signed contract back to saudi and they should get the visa

You can find more information regards to all this on the website that I mentioned above.

salaam,

Dr. Sadia: I would love to help you with those figure's but as I dont live in saudi, I wont be able to give you the correct picture.

I would recommend that you check out htp://hijra.net as you will find a lot of information on working and living in saudi arabia, there are many brothers on that forum who work in saudi and they will be able to guide you inshaAllah, you will have to register on that site before you can read or post any stuff. registration is free.

Mathboy: Point taken, you are right most of these guys just relay on twisting words and quoting out of context.

cockroch: some points that you raised are valid and such employers who use Mecca and Medina as a bait to underpay their employees do exist in saudi arabia.

Indeed they are a shame, that is what I hinted at when I said that "saudi has its social problems that are very difficult to deal with even for muslims"

Dr Sadia, I will not give personal opinion. I will tell you some ground level facts. And please refrain from religious politics

- Saudi is the only gulf country repeatedly advertises the same medical post in news papers in India. I know a certain post for which initially (2 yeras back) they were advertising for Moslems only, now they have removed that clause, but the posts are still vaccant.

-I am almost everyday getting three email from some crooked recruitment agency for vaccancies in Saudi Arabia.

(I do not get any mail for any other gulf country)

- Few of Moslem doctors from India who went there are finding it difficult to physically come back. (Remember I am not talking of NOC)

- It is my first hand knowledge that they always have extreme shortage of medical staff due to their ill treatment of nonmoslem population. So the total work force is very small. In the bargain, moslems from the subcontinent have to bear the burden of workload.

If you are doing something worthwhile in Qatar, don't go there. The great religious moslems on this forum who are advising you to embrace the life of true Islam, would never as much as move their lazy bums to support an overworked underpaid poor moslem in the holy land of Madina and Mecca.

nothing's gonna happen drsadia. Carry on ; your salary is not bad at all. It's really cheap staying in Saudi. Hope you can save upto 10,000 a month from your salary, it is that cheap compared to Qatar expense.

samix, sandman69 is not worth responding to. He merely twisted your words. This is what these Islam and Muslim enemies do. You did not claim that ALL Muslims do not indulge in such activities. You did say that some do but again that is a small number considering the Muslim nation. One thing is worth noting that every muslim is an indiviual and may not necessarily be a true represnetive of Islam.

These perverts very well understand what is said, but they try to befool others and create a wrong impression of Islam and Muslims.

i remeber a pakistani family in saudia was out for a picnic, their 10 years daughter wearing a frock... and police catched them.

the case was under hearing for 7th months in the court, then they finally got free of charge with some conditions been implement upon them...

KSA things are much cheaper then doha or any other place in gulf , and especially you dont have many things to do or spend money .

so if your option only to make money KSA will be z best choice . but for life standards its really hard .

By samix• 30 Apr 2010 12:39

Mathboy: JazakAllah for your support!

Sandman: Considering the population of muslims around the world such people are a minority, also I already acknowledged the existence of such closet activities in my post, and said that even the one's that do indulge in it feel shameful that they do.

drsadia, you have perfect answer from samix. Don't pay heed to the comments of others on this thread. These guys complain about everything. They are not happy in Qatar but continue staying here. Don't bother reading their comments.

A Pakistani colleague of mine who stayed in Saudi Arabia (Yanbu) for ten years before he moved to Qatar. He and his family still miss Saudi Arabia and want to go back.

Samix, you are fooling yourself and lying to all the rest if you believe muslims do not indulge in the pleasures you mention above. They just do it "In The Closet". I have been on flights out of Qatar and Kuwait, into Dubai and other places, only to see the fine upstanding muslims who were passengers on my flight in the same hotels and nightclubs as me, Drinking Dancing and Womanizing. Hypocrites, condemning these acitvities in their own country and actively supporting them in another country. Are you one of them too?

Salaam,

Dr Sadia, Most of the 'Saudi is Hell comments' come from non muslim residents who live in the Middle East, Much of that stems from propaganda and their disagreement with the Islamic Laws followed in the Land of the Two haramain.

What non muslims do not take into account is that for a muslim, living in saudi arabia with 24/7 365 days access to Mecca and Medina is a dream come true.

Another part that they feel saudi is hell is due to its restrictive nature

- No pubs/ club

- No free mixing of sexes

- No Inter sex socializing

- No Free flowing alcohal(atleast not openly)

- No gambling and other such activities

- The Muttawa

But, once again they fail to realize that for a muslim the above things are anyways off mark for most of the muslims as they dont indulge in all of this.

And, even the once that do indulge are shameful of their indulgence in the least.

That apart, saudi indeed has its social problem and some are very very frustrating to deal with, even for muslims.

Some people enter saudi expecting it to be the perfect Islamic utopia and end up getting a rude shock in the least.

If you choose to work in saudi then you must realize that they are human beings just the same kinds that you will find in your home country.. good, kind, helpful, crooked, mean, thugs... I mean all kinds

Inspite of all this I dont consider saudi hell, far from it, most of my family members are living and working there for decades and they love it.

in Riyadha and they pay 17,000 S.R yearly for their villa, food is cheap and with that amount you can really save something. But as they said, life won't be that good or enjoyable as the locals are not big fan of expatriates at all there ...
