RasGas offer - expat knowledge appreciated !

Hi,

I'm hoping to get a job offer from RasGas in the next couple of weeks at Grade 4/ QR Basic approx 19k. Wife and family in tow from England. Can you tell me, please:

Is RasGas a good company to work for?

I think I'll be working in Doha in their new offices. Is it likely that we'll be housed in Al Khor? I heard that Al Khor might be full though. I've got an accomodation allowance of approx 14.5k.

Are the schools good in Doha? Are they difficult to get into?

What about family life. I read mix reports on Qatar, some say it's barren and boring whilst others speak well on the place. What's it really like for a young family here?

Any advice much appreciated

You said you will be coming from the UK. Do you hold a British passport?

As you may have heard, the color of your passport does have a big influence on the package offered.

Trust Me you are better off staying in UK, You have your own freedom, your own people and your own culture. If you are willing to End your peaceful life, I say Welcome !!

It depends on your level of seniority. Money could be slightly higher, see if you can get QR22k-23k basic. Housing allowance is OK and will get you a villa. You should hopefully get QR5k worth of allowances. It also depends on where from the UK you are coming from.

Settling wise, if your wife likes it you will be OK. If she don't which there is a chance it could be hell.

Good for a young family but crap for single people. I don't know what you do but the basic seems low
