QTEL problem

I have been living with my family here in Qatar for more than a year now. Prior to that, i was living in a company accomodation. I have an internet connection that i am paying. I left the company and the new occupants continued to use the service and they are paying religiously until recently. Now, QTEL is sending me text messages that if i didn't pay the bill (which i suppose is 3 months due), they'll be forced to send my papers in court and cause problem for me. The question is, is there any way that i can get tell Qtel that i left the house for more than a year and these people should be responsible to pay for it? I talked to the guys and they are telling me that they don't have money to pay for it. Am i screwed and pay for it out of my pocket?

I would appreciate your response.

Dear, don't think that we didn't understand about your post. We understand that you given internet connection to someone and they are paying & they don't wanna pay now. But the main thing is it's on your name. So, you have to pay for it.

I appreciate your response...but to those who DONT UNDERSTAND what happened and start concluding, THANKS as well. I didn't give them FREE INTERNET. If you'll read my post, for more than a year, THEY ARE PAYING RELIGIOUSLY until recently. Silly not to transfer the name, i guess i was living inside Ras Laffan, and we only get the chance to go to Doha was during NIGHT TIME, where QTEL office is close, and Friday. Anyway, i'll just pay whatever needs to be paid. Thanks for the post guys.

Please follow the following steps in order to overcome your current problem. I guarantee you that this would work and all would agree with it!

Step 1: Disconnect the line if its still active

Step 2: Pay the dues (you like it or not, its your responsibility)

Step 3: Try and sqeeze this money out from those who used the phone line (Which I doubt you would receive)

Step 4: In future, when you leave your current apartment make sure to disconnect/discontinue all bills under your name

Step 5: You will not post this kind of questions on QL (Joking)

Overall, you did a mistake and you pay for it.

Look my friend, you should have disconnected the internet connection before you vacate that house. That internet connection is still in your name and QTEL is not responsible if someone else is using your internet connection. I think it will be better to settle it with the family who has taken over the flat and used your internet connection. As far as the Internet is in your name QTEL will ofcourse take action against you if the dues are not settled. Act before it will get too late.

You should have cancelled the internet connection since it was under your name not the company. For Q-tel you are still the user of that internet connection and they will charge you, not the people using it. Better take the guy to Q-tel and transfer the connection to his name, so that Q-tel will know where they should be expecting money from.

How silly ...

The phone is under your name and you didn't shifted the line...ofcourse the bil will come to you..

Hw would Qtel know that you have shifted your house ..

Either you have to disconnect the service or relocate it to your new place and

YOU ARE BLAMMING QTEL for your mistake

Dear, the telephone connection was under your name in Qtel. You left the home but you didn't left the phone. It means that connection still on your name. Qtel don't know currently who using this phone. So, you have to pay for it. Go to Qtel any office near you, pay the due bill and disconnect the service as soon as possible. Hope it's enough answer for you.

You should have transferred the line the moment you shifted residence. At least now go and cancel the line if it is in your name.
