Qatar Airways Cabin Crew

Hello to all of you reading my questions.

I am from portugal and am going to Qatar Airways open day, and of course am trying to find out all i can about Qatar, cost of living, lifestyle and if its worth to leave my country to go on an adventure as cabin crew for Qatar Airways.

The flying part of the job will be "easy", as i love to fly and love the rush of the airport...
I have worked in a airport doing SLA statistics.
And its kind of a dream of mine to travel and see the world. while having a high position job, guess 35,000ft is high enough :) just a litle joke.

As i understant, they dont ned people with experience, since they give us all the training necessary.
But will the condicions they offer be good enough to have a nice living in Qatar?

Here is what they offer:

* A three year open-ended contract.
* Competitive TAX-FREE salary of USD 1579 (inclusive flying pay) + meal allowances (location specific during layovers).
* Welcome bonus
* Free, fully furnished shared accommodation with own bedroom.
* Free transport while on official duty.
* Comprehensive medical coverage.
* Life insurance coverage.
* End of service benefits.
* Travel concessions on Qatar Airways and partner airlines.
(but i guess you already know that...)

The 1500UDS will be around 5000QAR, but since i guess i wont have any expences with housing, might be enough to save some money, because i've seen some budjets and they are pretty high.

Are there any cabin crew members here that can give their opinion about the job, salary and lifestyle you can have as a cabin crew?

And how the open day worked for you?
Was relocation very hard to endure?

Thank you for your replys,
best regards

Ivo

I work with Qatar Airways for the last four and half years as Cabin Crew. What I can say is that I do enjoy my job, salary, and the benefits that are offered by QA. If you think only the basic salary and come to a decision, you haven't received the full picture yet. Any airline pay the crew with the layover allowances and meal allowances and that would accumulate double the basic salary. Other benefits such as fully furnished accommodation, discounted air tickets unlimited for yourself and some for the family members, well of course the opportunity that you get to see the world etc. Good Luck with your position because I know when I look around some of the lifestyles of expats in Qatar, QA offers its employees a better package.

Your basic is different from what you will receive when you are already flying. In some cases, the pay goes up to almost thrice the basic if you fly frequently and you get lay-overs on trips. Lay-over means when you travel to a distant distination, you will be staying in that place for example Houston would be around 48 hours. You will be given a local allowance depending on the city you will be staying in. They also pay the overtime annually. In some cases for frequently flying crew, up to 10x your basic but the regular flyers around thrice the basic. Try to stay in al nouf, they have swimming pool and gym there.

thank you for all the answers, and yes de pay does not seem much regarding the portuguese economy.

But it might be easy to save some money, because i dont think one will have much free time to spend it, and cause housing is payed by the airline, might be a good oportunity!!

It's a standard, entry-level airline package. You'll find out soon enough if you like it. But your primary goal should be passing the "cattle call" selection process. That's the hardest part of the job!

Hi.. I have my girlfriend work as a cabin crew in Qatar Airways, and I also have a lot of friend working as a Qatar Airways cabin crew.. What QR offer to you is the same as they got, and so far I see all of them enjoy the package very much especially for the flying pay which is the highest in gulf. For accommodation they all get the best accommodation in Doha, most of the luxurious apartment in Doha (in airport area) are rented for long term by QR so you dont have to be afraid that they will place you in an uncomfort places.. One thing that maybe the hardest part is the social living in Doha which is different compare to your place. This is a Moslem country and if you can't make yourself enjoy with all the restriction then you'll become stress instantly.. But if you have friend who can cheers up your day here in Doha I guarantee you'll love to live and work for a long term here in Doha.. Hope that can give a little picture for you, if you need more then you can PM me.. Have a nice day!!

Qatar Airways is one of the rising star airlines, and a good place to start your career. It will definitely look good on your CV for future employment with other airlines. So don't just look at the current package, but the potential opportunities where it will lead to later on! Good luck.
