Poorest cooking gas delivery system

Why is it that though Qatar is the largest producer of gas in the world, it is so difficult and cumbersome to get a cooking gas cylinder or refill? Even in developing countries, just a phone call and cooking gas is delivered at home. Here, either one has to stand outside one's home and wait for the LPG vehicle, leaving aside all other work, or one has to try from small grocery shops. Even the LPG delivery vehicle has no fixed time of coming....they come when they feel like. And there is no central depot where one can go and get a refill...
Wonder how this crazy system evolved for getting a LPG refill? Pathetic state of affairs.

Get an extra tank then, I'm having 3 at my place so i don't need to scream to the gas guy delivery for brining it late. We have a big problem cos we all working, they used to passby by med day so no one is at home to wait for that.So good luck next time......

Agree with the comments made, except we should not say that no central place is available for cooking gas as they do have a few in certain areas, but I still think its a hastle to take the gas cylinder to these places.

One thing I did is that I bought an electric portable as my emergency back up. :)

You are absolutely right, even in India which is not exactly a place known for its high standard of living, you can get a gas cylinder by just a phone call.

This set me thinking of a lot of other things which are easier in India:

1. Cable TV : just pay 150 rupees(12 QR), and get about 100-150 channels , including pay channels. You do not have to worry about fixing dishes, receivers, cards etc etc.

2. Mobile communication :Call rates are dirt cheap, with hundreds of different plans catering to different types of customers, with SMS practically free.

3.Public transport : In any small village or town, you can get buses, autorikshaws, or a train. There is no need to wait hours for a taxi.

Can you think of anything else?
