agree oryx, the moment a parent/ loved one is abusive, that becomes a public issue. abuses in the relationships flourish because people think it's personal matter to be settled privately. No it's not. society as a whole has the responsibility to stop abuses whenever, wherever.
And Soniya physical violence is NOT a personal issue.
It is a criminal offense.
You live in your parents house so their rules.
So simple get a job and move out.
However if anyone is physically violent towards call the police immediately.
Though it sounds funny (your story), If the whole story is serious, you should consult a councilor or a psychiatrist. Are you still in school, or are you a professional now? Being 20 I think is a bit older for you be locked up in your own house much less a mental institution. Talk to your parents calmly, remind them that you are old enough to take care of yourself now. But if you're still receiving money/allowance from them, you have no other choice. Until you get your self liberated, earning money for yourself, you are still in their guidance and care, and you can't do anything about it.
tinker, check her other thread here..it's quite similar to what she has asked now..
