Parking fine?

I was parked opposite City Centre last night. When I returned to my car I had been issued with a parking ticket, as had a dozen or more other cars. I have parked here on several occassions before without problem. I walked up and down the road in search of a sign giving parking restrictions but found none. How do I go about contesting this ticket? Or is it just a case of 'you were in the country when the ticket was issued, therefor it's your fault'. Can anyone advise please?

You are lucky my friend. I got a ticket for parking inside the City Centre parking. and to top it i wasnt even parked in the middle like some people do, but rather to the side in the quiet area on the other end of the parking.

=>you were in the country when the ticket was issued, therefor it's your fault'.

====>you were using the fourth line of the road for parking while the ticket was issued, therefore it's your fault'

in my experience, there is always a reason for issuing a parking ticket (even if there isn't). They will invent one that you won't be able to contest. I happenned to me once on the corniche near sheraton where me and 30 or more others were ticketed for parking in a completely safe and parkable area. the ticket was marked as obstructing traffic??? what I ended up doing was pay the fine which was about 300 QAR and they dropped the points.

Ofcourse its your fault you are alive!!!:)

I think the black and white kerbing indicates that you arne't supposed to park there or something.

I always used to park there, and since people began getting tickets I've stopped.

In fact, I've stopped going to City Center altogether as a result.

Personally I find the idea of an 8 lane road outside City Center to be ludicrous, but I guess someone thought it would be necessary.

I agree with all above. Also, consider if an accident occurs with your car then you might have to pay for your car along with additional fine as you have parked the car wrongly.

.

So ur lucky, just pay the fine and hope that you will not lose more points till 31st December 2009.

You parked in the street. If it was a car park it would have a sign telling you so, and is it was roadside parking there would have been white lines marking the spaces. Just cos everyone else is doing it, doesn't make it right. Consider yourself lucky that this is only your first.

The thing is (and it's not overly obvious) is that the place where everyone parks is actually part of the road. It's the fourth lane. But as folk started to park there it is less obvious. Sorry but I don't think you can argue with this one.
