can anyone help me here ive asked about my offer ,plz can i have an advise, thxx
thanks kabayan.. nevertheless, i'll try my luck in qatar. and thanks to those who shared their opinions, i appreciate the effort for giving out ur views..
Dear Kabayan
This is a valid point and it is very obvious that many of us have more privileged lifestyles for stupid reasons like our nationality. This is the situation here and I respect anyone who is prepared to put up with it to gain a better life for themselves or their family. That said I would hate for someone to come here expecting the kind of treatment that is normal irrespective of nationality in many parts of the world. The man who posted the question is a nurse. Of course, I am ignorant and apologise for this about how possible/easy it is to get a visa to work elsewhere, but many countries in the West are short of nurses and will pay MUCH better and offer housing etc so that we can have the benefit of the skills and training you have put in.
Qatar only deserves to have such individuals when it shows it values them. First by offering them a package which would give them a good lifestyle on a par with similarly wealthy countries. Secondly by treating everyone with respect while they are here. It seems strange to me that everyone complains about the lack of respect that Westerners pay to local/Muslim cultures when so few here are prepared to give respect to anyone else.
If you come because it means you can live better when you go home, good luck to you. It is not a cheap place to live, but I hope you can do all you set out to. My biggest hope for you is that you get a better job, in a fairer country that appreciates your training, your choice of career and your work, and does not categorise your economic worth according to your country.
it is a fact that this forum has been of tremendous help to people like us who are in the process of contemplating to move to qatar. most of the people here are really sincere in offering their opinions and real-life experiences of their stay.
but we, myself included, must weigh everything that is being thrown at us. firstly, this forum caters to all classes and lifestyles. for some, the package may not be enough because of their own personal lifestyle. but for most of us filipinos, it may be enough.
for 1250 housing allowance + 625 supplement, you can share a room with another kabayan for as low as 500/month,all inclusive, depending on the location. if you cannot live with a stranger, then you can find a solo room for as low as 800. again depending on the location.
be thankful of their advices and opinions but at the end of the day, the economics of your current employment will weigh most in accepting the offer.
all the best, kabayan.

If you want to leave 3 months into a contract, someone real important better have "died" back home and you need to make an emergency trip back. Then call and say "sorry, but we just can't make it back."
Don't come. Even for those of us on good salaries this place has precious little to recommend it (yes, we will leave in a few months). The exit permit thing is an issue as usual for certain nationalities. According to the usual discriminatory policy here other nationalities can get multi-exit visas (for example, my husband and I come and go when we like). If you have to have a permit you will have no freedom of movement. You can only leave with the explicit permission of your employer. Qatar DOES NOT abide by freedom of movement labour law ( which is contrary to the WTO legislation, and God knows that's not a group known for its human rights concerns). If you are working for one person for crap money and someone offers you a better salary you can't just leave. You need to change your sponsor. This involves getting the agreement of your first sponsor (who many people we have spoken to here have found to be reluctant). It is a policy to keep wages low, conditions bad, and hours long. If the company wants you, and deserves you, they can and will pay you a decent living wage. I don't know you but I'm sure you deserve it.
So what happens if after 3 months you decide its not the job or country for you? Can you stipulate any conditions in your contract?
there are lot of story ... people doing a runner because they fall out with the employer. They told the employer they going for holiday weekend in UAE or else, and they never come back.
as bhappy said ... pls dont come with that money ... you will really regret it.
you have to get an exit permit from your employer to leave the country. Otherwise the immigration will not let you out.
exit permit, you cannot leave. As simple as it can be. Don't even think about coming on this package, you will regret it in a big way

what is this exit permit?
i can't leave until my employer says i can?
what if i arrive, and want to leave 3 months later for whatever reason, and my boss doesn't give me this exit permit?
NOT ENOUGH ... dont bother to come ... you will find yourself stuck here ... can't leave ... your sponsor will not issue your exit permit.
That is a crap, crap offer. Someone is trying to get the best of you.
You are lucky to get one room in a shared villa or apartment, rent here is a big issue, have a look at the classifieds in Gulf-Times website.
