NOC Uncertainty

I have recently been released / demobed, though I'll be staying in Qatar as my partner is working here. Regarding my NOC, my company have told me it will be only be decided when my 'next' employer applies for my release. It will be decided by the 'chairman' and is at his discretion. Is this the correct procedure? Sounds like an odd way of doing business to me but hey. I can't find a difinitive answer anywhere so if you know, please share any info you may have. Regards.

Even if your employer gives you NOC, you still need to get approval from MOI to work somewhere else.

Oh dear! Not a very good position to find one self in at all. Well, thanks for the feedback, at least I now know my position in the grander scheme. Regards.

that looks fair, yes that is the procedure here, they wil not hand u over a paper as NOC, if your next employer request for it, the present company will consider and give, it all at the discretion of the company chairman as rightly said.

So despite my old company not needing me any longer due to the near completion of a project, they still get to decide if I work in Qatar again?

baldrick, they 'invest' nothing if they hire locally. What you say applies only to people brought to Qatar on the cost of the sponsor.

This is very normal. Companies provide the NOC directed to your next employer but still at your old company's discretion.

Sounds fair enough to me. I guess they don't want you working for their competitors after they have invested in you.
