I am offered a teaching position by an independent school with basic salary QR 5500, Accommodation allowance QR 4000 & other allowance QR 3500 and end of Service Benefits as three weeks of basic salary annually. Also annual air tickets, 65 days as holidays per year, friday and saturday as non-working days/weekend. I need advice to know what I am offered is worth a teacher or not.

Actually you don't need advice, what you have to do is GRAB the opportunity.

if that's a good salary for a teacher, YIKES! For a rich country like this, that's pathetic.

better to have accomodation provided, rather than an allowance, as that amount won't get you very far.

If you have kids, enquire about schooling. What about travel and utilities, these shud also form part of the offer. Also negotiate the basic salary, as often the first offer is negotiable. Try to negotiate provision of housing instead of housing allowance as a 2b/r flat rental ranges above QR6500.

Good luck!

For the time being, this is a good salary. Most important thing is the accomodation...
