my nokia n97 also had the same problem like you have told. i gave it to authorised nokia service center. simply they have formatted. now it is working good without any problem.
Go to Souq Al Najda,there you will find many mobile service shops,get your mobile checked there.
there are multiple mobile applications kept open with ur mobile... Switch off and open again... or keep hold pressing Menu button it will show u all Application open with ur moble.. and close all the applition from options...
it will be either a virus (viruses usually do this, fill the mem) or the software of the mobile itself, my mobile was not connect to the internet but it was not giving me full memo, so i formated it and it's working fine now
