Mashreq Bank – The WORST bank in Qatar!!!!

Applying for a loan to Mashreq Bank will take you a lot of time and give you a big headache. They were asking my company (which is a governmental company) for a letter where should be specified, besides the salary transfer, that will not transfer my salary to any other bank until I will get a clearance letter from Mashreq. The letter for the banks is a standard one, and is not specified something like that because, if you finish to pay the loan in 1 year, they can keep you with them as many years as they want if they don’t want to release this letter. It is against the rules of the companies, which should protect their employees; of course my company refused, since many years we are working with all the banks and NO other bank from Qatar requested for something like that. And a funny thing: I called their agent on 29th April, but he couldn’t come to meet me only after the weekend, but he informed me to get the bank statement for the last 6 months…everything ok….until now, when Mashreq came back to me after almost 3 weeks pretending that my bank statement is not complete, it should be until 30th of April, end of the month. I mean, guys, if I asked for the loan on 28th, so my ex-bank gave me the statement for the month of April until 27th, how this could be until 30th??? Maybe they should guess what will be in my account in 30th ???? Where is your brain, lost in space???? Unbelievable how unprofessional they can be!!! And my colleague applied to another bank for the loan after me, and she already got the money….Now when I am talking with my friends / colleagues about this Mashreq Bank, many people are sharing the same bad experience with them, how unprofessional and slowly they are!!! Everybody is running away from them! Worst than worst!!!

Don't go for mashreq! i have bad experience with them also. are many other banks in qatar better than this; IBQ will give u the loan in one week and will tell u from the begining what requirements they have. i know many agents from mashreq who are looking for other jobs bcs they are loosing customers bcs the bank is too slow.

as a banker, I would say that nowadays bank policies towards PERSONAL LOANS/CREDIT CARD has got very much harsh or strict. They want perfect documentation b4 sanctioning any loan to the applicant. So, one must not get pissed off. just imagine, if anyone whom u know comes to u to lend him/her a money for few months, don't u get cautious and ask him/her about any guarantee or reason for asking for loan etc

.

Due to global financial crisis and frauds done in UAE and other GCC countries, banks have gone on HIGH ALERT. They don't want to lose any more money. Mashreq bank is DUBAI based bank so now u can understand why they took so much time to process ur loan application

No, garneth, we have the standard letter for banks and we have more than 200 employees and the company is running more than 4 years - no bank from Qatar NEVER asked us such a thing...I did check with admin dept this thing... and why they need 3 weeks to reply to me, when other banks are coming back to you in one week???? yea, right, I forgot, professional banks are working faster!!

"They were asking my company (which is a governmental company) for a letter where should be specified, besides the salary transfer, that will not transfer my salary to any other bank until I will get a clearance letter from Mashreq."

the company cert. for bank loan purposes must have this lines for its a guarantee to them, i think its all standard with all bank loans requirements, i'd applied a loan with IBQ and its the same thing, they ask for that specific quotes in the cert. (cert for bank loan)

its always the 30th statement that will be honored for this is the latest salary transfer, same with all bank, doha, IBQ, Mashraq. it would be easier if the bank you are applying a loan to is same with the company credited your payroll to. with that theres not much docs required.

cheers!

you are entitled to it. I wonder if it is just plain sour-graping for not getting a loan!
