La Cigale Hotel...Alain Robert: Spiderman

Alain Robert: Spiderman

Is in QATAR now at La Cigale Hotel , today he performed his great talent there.

At Dated 07-December-2008 at 7:00 PM he wil perform again so everyone should be there.

Whenever Alain Robert stands on top of one of world's tallest buildings, he feels more alive than ever. Not because the panoramic views tend to make him emotional - rather, he is relieved to be on solid ground again after climbing the skyscraper for hours without protection.

Robert is a so-called ‘free solo climber', someone who does not use protection ropes or cable gear, but instead uses only his bare hands to scale a structure. "You fall, you die," is how the 46-year-old describes his profession. Even a safety net would be useless. "It's like falling into the water from over 50 meters height - you'll end up dead."

I have posted a sponsor run event for www.outreachasia.org and www.eforahk.com

i am trying to get this organised for xmas time.

It is for a great NON PROFIT organisation which helps in poor parts of the world.. does anyone know if there are restrictions on this kind of event taking place.

mata hari - you're right, he has found a good niche! (well, 'Fathers for Justice' do the same thing in the UK - but it's not the same ;)

I'm not sure it's "courageous" though. He admits himself that "There is no real risk".

somehow at the top he slided two times, ufff, got scared..but he quickly "recovered"! Near Kids Emerg.Hospital the traffic was difficult...it was enough one to stop with hazard lights on the first line (starting 7pm as announced).Just wondering, he makes good money from this, huh? Found a niche, smart guy! And extremely courageous, wow!

I am lucky enough to be staying at the George 2 on the fourth floor facing La Cigale and besides yesterdays climb I have had six days of rockbreakers outside my window for the new Cigal car park project and then all night they are loading trucks and I am sure they have turned the volume up at the mosque which is 80 metres from mt window
