Hi, I was accepted for a job at a governmental company. Took several months to get the job offer and now they announced me that the position was temporarily stopped. What can i do?

Same happened with a friend of mine & they asked him to wait until its re-opened. He waited for 4 months and jumped to another position he was offered at a different organisation.
