It depends your defination of "friends". In my native land , opposite sex can be friends, even closer to best friends. But inducing someting malicious on the relationship that's different.

that only depends with what is your intention having a friendship with us women...if you are really sincere that its only a pure friendship then there is nothing wrong with that...usually what is happening here is that men were asking a girl to go out but having a bad intention thats why we are sometimes scared also with that idea...but for me i really dont go out with a men i only knew online for safety also...its really hard to trust..

If you want a 'clean' friendship why are you asking for females only? If you want friends I would think it wouldnt matter if they were male or female.
