Indian youth forum to open on June 15
DOHA A NEW socio-cultural forum of Indian expatriates called ‘Youth Forum’ will be launched in Doha on June 15. The official launching ceremony will be held at Qatar Sports Club.
More than 2,000 people are likely to attend the launch ceremony. Indian social activist Sandeep Pandey will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Pandey was awarded Ramon Magsaysay Award (often termed as ‘Asian Nobel prize’) in 2002 in the ‘emergent leadership’ category.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Sajid Rahman, the forum’s president said that it will address topics related to Indian youngsters — both in India and Qatar.
“The forum will focus on creating a socially committed generation. The sociocultural and sporting activities planned by the forum after the official launch of the programme will attract a large number of people,” Sajid added.
Membership to the forum will be restricted to people aged 38 and below.
With regard to the list on social services activities, Youth Forum has a number of programmes in the pipeline for the future.
“Indian youngsters living abroad can do a lot more to support their countrymen back home. The programmes listed for the future are expected to be the guidelines for new generations who live in a modern complex world.
“The forum’s main objective will be to tap creative energy and youth spirit, and then utilise them to create a better society,” Sajid said.
Besides the office-bearers, the launching ceremony will be attended by Solidarity Kerala-chapter President PI Noushad and social activist Salim Mambad. The opening ceremony will be followed by a cultural programme.
