how is MIDMAC CONTRACTING COMPANY WLL ?

By Abhisekh

Hi,
I have been recruited by MIDMAC Construction Co in Doha Qatar as company doctor. Salary is 8000 QR along with food allowance.

Now it seems I have to spend a year or so in a labour camp in abu nakhla. Company is providing free single room accomodation with all amenities.

MY QUESTIONS .. and have a lot of 'em for sure!

1) Any idea about this company? Do they have a good name and pay salaries in time.

2) How is life living in a camp in a porta cabin ? Is it really worth the effort?

3) What kind of bathing and toilet facilities does a porta cabin have?? (sorry for my ignorance folks!)

4)How far is the abu nakhla camp from Doha?

5) any other helpful tips would be gratefully appreciated.

|Thanks
Abhi

E vero che per lavorare con la mindmac devi pagare le spese per il visto di soggiorno?

Spese che ammontano a 250,00 euro da spedire a un nome e indirizzo privato e non su un conto corrente della Mindmac?

Hi,

Midmac pays your salary on time, all your dues at the end of service. There is only one catch that they don't tell their employees at the time of job offer, is that they never grant NOC and they refuse to transfer the sponsorship to another employer even if they end your contract. This results in a 2 year ban by the Immigration Office, which means you will not be able to visit Qatar during that time unless you are a resident in one of the GCC countries.

Dear Abhi,

Midmac is a very good company. But life in a Porta Cabin is not advisable. Porta Cabins are made up of MDF Woods, which is used for site accommodation and shifted on trailers from palace to place after completion of each projects. Toilet will be attached to this separately, which is emptied and cleaned on a daily basis. Now regarding your salary; its a pretty low offer. The min. Salary required for a family visa is QR. 7000 and ur just above that. You will never be able to survive with ur salary on a family status here. 2 bed flat will cost something between 4,500 - 6,000. So just calculate the additional expenses apart from house rent and take a decision. Abu Nakhla is not far from Doha. Hardly 15 - 20 min drive. So its better to ask for a flat in Doha itself instead of staying in a Porta Cabin.

Long years ago I had dealing with Midmac company, their payment was too late, one of my friend who worked were compaling about due salaries for long months. I dont know the present condition. Anyway for a doctor profession 8000 Qr. is not a good offer. Check with someone who work there personally.

Are you a MBBS doctor? If yes then the offered salary appears to be too low. You can not maintain family with this salary in Qatar.

However, if you are very desperate for a job then there is no question of ifs and buts, simply grab what you got.

Thanks calculator and tooba... and a happy new year to both.

Well, the company says you stay in a portacabin for a year and then you can live in doha and drive down to the camp... but seriously, what IS a portacabin ? is it something like what they have around building sites ..sort of prefab housing or something...

MidMac is for sure a good organization, but before you sign a contract you should have checked each and everything... u must be an experienced doctor why dont you try to negotiate the accomodation status, as I have heard from many that Portacabin life is not so good...

or else.... give it a try for few months and then after a while speak to MidMac management again....to increase your salary & accomodation status

best of luck!!
