house rent go up so fast in this country

It seems the house rents started to shoot up in qatar again , unfortunately when i thought of moving to a different place .I however wanted to do this 3 months back but suddenly had to leave the country for a while , now i am back in the country after a long vacation i started to search again and there is a lot of difference now. i was able to find 2 bhks FF for even 5.5k but now i check for similar apartments and its 6.5 k now i think i dont have any other choice other than moving to villa portions itself like the one i am staying now but even that is becoming expensive now, what do you think , ma collegues say it all started from last month onwards due to the influx of expartiates to this country and due to demolition of old builtings to buid better ones

and the worst part is when i see something affordable in the classifeds i call them to find out its already gone i think its a small game played by real estate people in qatar, now we feel as if grabbing anything which is better as soon as we see else we amy not be able to get that too for such price after a while . well what is your opinion or i should wait for the rents to come down again is it gping to happen soon ?

GUYS

I this is another effort to create panic in the minds of poor expatriates.

Many tricks have been used by "REAL" people to increase the demand. However, its not going to work as there is already excess supply in the market.

Owners are offering even 6 months rent free for 18 months contract. so beware of the tricks my friends.

Already i have been paying 50% of my salary as rent.... this is higher than any other country in the WORLD. It will be a wise decision to impose any TAX on expatriate exployees rather than being looted by the REAL ESTATE MAFIA. So that the income will go the govt.

Well it's not new to me that rent here in Qatar was fast moving lucky to those provided by there company with proper allowance...sorry to those people employed and budget for there housing is not even enough for one room sharing.... Companies have pity on your employees....hopefully qatar government should have an eye opener for this issue...

As for the "Influx" of expatriates. Majority of those expatriates, The labourers are going to live in their prison camp so they will not require these apartments.

The prices should come down as supply is way more than demand. So many residential towers are vacant and so many more are scheduled to be completed in 2011 & 2012.

Supply and demand - Exilled is right - if you are looking to move and can handle yourself in a negotiation situation then you are in a strong position to bargain - dont let the greedy bas++rds push you around - shove back. They would rather take a knock down price than have the place stand vacant. Oh and dont fall for any of that 2022 bo++ox!!

Serdal Tower in West Bay is a good example. A friend of mine lives there and see they are advertising the same apartment for less. So he wants a reduction in rent to match the advertised price, they said no and that all the apartments were full with a waiting list!!!

He gave his notice and told them to get F themselves...

The managing agents and the real estate agents here are thieves...

And I agree with ES. It's also a game.

Like most other things here, it's all about what is projected.

There are dozens of residential buildings here in the West Bay area that are rotting while waiting for occupants, but the agents won't admit all this when blithely quoting exorbitant rents.

We were recently house-hunting. The agents told me that prices in Qatar go up with school terms - so yes, in March and September. That is apparently when the most people move.

Tough one, that. I think most real estate here is overpriced anyway. We got an apartment for the price of which we could have a very nice house with garden back home.

Its a game. There is still a lot of spare capacity, but agents and middle men are trying to drive the market up.
