Hoping to save something

Hi,

I may have a potential offer to move to Doha under following terms, all figures QAR monthly:

Salary 22K
Housing: fully paid for by employer.
Furnishing allowance: 45K (I think) depreciated over 4 years.
Insurance, full schooling for both kids, 1-ticket per year, car loan of up to 5 times salary interest free.

My question is, can anyone give me an approximate idea of how much I could save per month, given the following facts:

Wife is stay at home mom, 2 kids (4 year old and infant expected in Jan 2008). Looking for 4-5 bedroom, stand-alone villa, with lots of space. We are not big spenders. We eat out maybe once or twice a month, live without spending more than our means, do not buy extravagant clothes or electronics. We will not travel other than what our return ticket per year will allow. OK maybe one extra trip to Dubai, or something like that. In other words, we live a pretty basic, somewhat frugal lifestyle (ie within our means).

Any rough idea of what can be saved per month with this package and the lifestyle I described above?

Hi! My package is Basic (17k), Housing Allowance (10k), Local transportantion Allowance (2k), Other monthly alowance(4k). Total 33k. How much would you think I can save if I come to Qatar alone and stay in a 1-bedroom fully furnish apartment? What car would I be able to get with this allowance budget? Do I need to pay any downpayment for the car? Your "guesstimate" on how much I could save if I stay in a 2-bedrooon fully furnished apartment with my wife and son? I know these are very subjective questions (pleas forgive me for that) but I need some kond of ballpark figures to prepare myself better before I (or maybe we) come to Qatar. Thanks.

Since everything is basically being paid for by your employer, how much you save depends on how much you want to pay yourself everytime you receive your paycheck.. I give myself 20 percent of my paycheck and the other 80 percent is what I budget to whatever I need, necessities first and then leisure.. I've been doing this method for almost 10 years now and you won't believe how much money you can put aside.. Also everytime I get a pay raise, I include that to my savings..

you'll be able to save a lot of that salary...especially if you spending is as conservative as you say. Heck, you could go out a few more times and still be fine..

Hmmmm, sounds like a Q co package

22k

- 2k (food/fuel blah blah)

- 1k (dinners)

- 2.5 k (car repayment)

- 1k (miscellaneous)

= 15.5 k

youll get some back when u sell your car ;-) after 3 years (suggest Toyotas)
