Higher prices in Qatar

Why is that prices of most items like fruits, vegetables, pulses,Cola, electronics, automobiles etc are higher by approx 20-30% higher than prices in Qatar Vs UAE.

This is in spite that fuel is lot cheaper in Qatar (Dhs 0.70 Vs Dhs 1.70 per ltr in UAE or cheaper in Qatar by 243%), Like wise Gas is just Qrs 15 per Cylinder Vs Dhs 50++ in the UAE i.e in Qatar cheaper by 333%. This is thanks to the Qatar Government that they have taken initiatives to keep the inflation down. The country also has good connectivity through Qatar Airways with large number of destinations so the place is well connected to bring products.

Why can't prices be at least the same if not lower Vs UAE. Ideally should be lower given the energy prices. Are traders making a huge killing or are we missing something.

How we use Qatar Living as a platform to seek Govt intervention so that the consumers are not taken for a ride. Few months back there was already a declaration by HH the prime minister that such practices will not be tolrated. What can we do as consumers to bring it to the notice of authorities.

Comments/feedback with a objective of doing something rather than just opinions pls.

Qatar is not producer for example, milk vegetables and other day to day required items are being imported from Saudi arabia and UAE, they will add the road transportation charges and other charges so obviously rates will go high compared to originating country,

Thanks for your answer. Rents in Qatar at the moment are lower than Dubai heart of town & same as area's like Guisis and new Dubai. Yes, Importing from UAE might be the reason.
