Hi, I'm a single british lady and have been offered a job in Qatar for 23,000 QAR per month. I have read lots of posts on this site to see if this salary is going to be enough for me to comfortably live on but lots of posts are for families - i'm just on my own. I need this salary to cover my living expenses in Qatar including rent, bills, gym etc, half of my British mortgage and bills and also wanted to save something too. Am I being unrealistic? Also is Qatar a good place for single lady to live and meet new friends easily etc?

Single or not, a decent and safe place, especially for a Lady would be a small villa in the Beverly Hills compound, and that will cost 25.000 QR. Oooops, that's already more than she earns!

QAR 23000 can be now considered only to be a reasonable salary in Qatar,in light of the high cost of living here. Guess the rent bracket is much less in UK compared to here!!. And coming to think of if in UK pounds,it's really not much by UK standards that you could save back to your country?!!!

Hi Sarab..I must say you are lucky to get this salary..I am an engineer and I've done Masters from UK and had 3 years experience over there and i am drawing 9k less than you..so I dunno what your designation is but I doubt you could get same package in the UK as far as I think...Ciao

23k a month for a singla lady is a very decent salary... I strongly recommend you go ahead with this offer.. moreover, presently Qatar is among the few places in the world that havent been much affected in recessions..!

Its just that, probably you wont enjoy all that fun you used to back in your country..might be kinda boring here..but u may overcome with time..

all the best Sara..!! :)

for a nice two bed apartment you'll be looking at about 6 to 9 thousand qar and that will be your biggest cost. 23000 qar is only 4400 pound you have to ask yourself if that is enough.

Dear Sara,

-Monthly rent of a furnished nice studio for a single like you is about 5-6 thousands (could be less if u go for less quality).

- If you plan to stay for a long time, you can purchase your car here with a loan (low interest). This could be varying according to type. But not more than 1200-1500 QR monthly with no downpayment.

- For fuel: 1 litre = 0.8 QR.

- Food and other staff for a single = 2000 - 3000 (Depends on quality of food and whether you can cook or not). If u cook, cost can go to 1500.

- Electricity/Water bill ranges between 150-300 QR for a studio depending on your consumption and hot weather in summer.

- In General, Qatar is a quiet and nice country which is heading to be one of the most modern countries in the area. Services are easy and available through internet.

Good luck in your career.
