GULF TIMES to KERALA TIMES

x_albhertz
By x_albhertz

well i noticed everyday the news and ads in gulf times are mostly indian promotions and happenings... for example "Expats celebrate Dandiya festival" or "INDIAN Cultural Centre has successfully completed the popular ICC-Galaxy Sports Indoor Games annual tournament" and blah... blah... sadly that is not interesting to be put in a headline news for me or maybe for some indian it was good...

Most of the time when i visit and check the site of gulf times i can see the news about indian/kerala happenings here in qatar ...is there no other nationality living here in qatar? only for indians and qatari! haha funny correct me if im wrong guys? and if im not the only one who can notice that..tsktsk thats why gulf times are putting separate news for every individual country or continent ..

note:

THIS IS QATAR not INDIA =p

sorry to tell that!
dont get mad at me guys! hehehe peace

Despite all faults Gulf Times is still my favourite. They don't make many claims as the other two papers often do. Its coverage is widespread. It is true the Kerala coverage in the paper is more, that could be because of the active Kerala community, as some entries suggest here. But it is a fact that at all the three papers the top people are Indians. In fact I see more non-Indian writers' names in Gulf Times, with Arabs, Africans and Britons among them prominently.

Two of the English-language dailies have Western expats in charge of editorial decisions. The problem (if you see it as that) of Kerala news in the dailies has a few causes, but I doubt whether it has much to do with the Gulf Times being run by an Englishman or an Indian.

* There are many more Indians than Brits reading the dailies, so it's obvious that the papers should reflect the interests of their readers.

* There are many more Indians in Doha, so they generate more stories.

* Western expats don't send photos to the papers if their kid scores highly in an exam.

Get a grip people. If you want a British newspaper, buy the Daily Mail.

Tsk, tsk... some of u r so vain!!! I think this mud slinging is mostly a result of jealousy!!!

I actually prefer Indians, especially people from Kerla. They r VERY hard workin, adjustable, reliable and no doubt intelligent. No hang-ups, no tantrums, no disciplinary issues, no problems wat-so-ever! Exemplary work performance they achieve too.

If they r all over the planet, its coz they r welcome everywhere! Where ever they go they gel well with local people and culture. They r, in my opinion, the epitome of "wen in Rome, b a Roman". And coz of this they flourish, dont they?

Ok, i do have to admit, a majority of them may not b too presentable (sorry bout this, no offence), but how much EXTRA value does a guy with gelled hair, pink shirt, pointy shoes, and a BRANDS suit bring to ur business or organizaton. I've employed a few of this kind & had to get rid of them within a couple of months coz of numerous customer/client complaints and pathetic performance. All talk & no follow thru; all fart and no shit!

Yeah u could say i am biased, but i have my valid reasons dont i?

it is NOT because they are active, or attending charity organization or so...who doesnt? other nationalities do morethan them but its just indians are so selfish if they work somewhere they will make that place as indianization, look at the airport if u r in doha international airport u think you are in bombay airport they even speak hindi to everyone, my last vacation i was traveling, the tunisian guy was too pistoff he coulding find someone to speak arabic with and they are english he couding understand them , he asked me is this doha airport or bombay airport. qatar airways u will know it bcz it has a logo otherwise u will think u r flying with indian airline even indian crew speaks hindi to each other in front of passengers! u start hearing hindi from the checkin to the aircraft.

I dont live with example..Reather I prefer to be an example!

I too have observed the same. But see my friend.. From what i understand, Indian or shall i say Kerelite community in Doha, of for that fact even in U.A.E are a very active community who are involved in so many things most i have seen are +ive things be it sports, political in house meetings, parties, charity, group festivals or cultural programs. And also the community here is strong. I wish pakistani, Filipino or anyother community for that fact do the same.

Lets not complain and get down to racist comments. The editorial is purely Kerelities from India, but i would prefer Gulf Times any day to Peninsula or Qatar Tribune.

Maybe this is my preference.. but the choice is open to all..

In conclusion i would say, wake up other communities do something and make news on the front page.. Ofcourse in a healthy, friendly positive way...

Best of Luck..
