a good-for-nothing "landlord"

it's sad that there are people who take advantage of others for monetary gain. i want to share my truly bad experience with this good-for-nothing landlord. i live in a sharing accommodation with my husband and two young kids. we stay in a 4-bedroom flat that had a different owner last year (who by the way was a very good and professional landlady). when the real estate sold off the building to another owner, contracts had to be renewed. our landlady did not renew the contract under her name as she was about to leave the country for good anytime. out of kindness to us tenants she handed over the contract of our flat to a new landlord. this was only about 3 months ago. this new landlord is literally a good-for-nothing as he only comes in the flat to collect rent payments! when something is wrong and needs his actions he is nowhere. he does not answer calls or return calls. when the a/c in our room malfunctioned he did not do anything. he asked us to look for a technician ourselves and just deduct the bill from the rent...this he said after 3 WEEKS of promising us that he'd send a technician!!! imagine in this heat with my 2 young sons...he is really a bloody m@#!*&f$%*#@!!! we moved out of the flat a few days ago. we had a hard time getting back our deposit. this landlord has never answered and returned our calls! last night we were supposed to meet him for the deposit but he never showed up. only the former landlady met up with us to give us partial payment from our deposit! he still owes us money. but money is not the only issue here anymore. it is the way he tried to make a fool out of us. he has ignored all our calls and messages. he has never contacted with any of the tenants (we are 4 tenants in the flat) even until this time. any advice on what we can do to teach him a lesson??? we're all so pissed off with him. it's really sad that some people are this greedy for money that they forget to value an act of humanity. he is a terribly shameless landlord. i hope and pray that his other tenants (oh yes he has another flat he is subletting) would realize his worthlessness before it's too late.

the police came to his house with our presence, he begged to them and promise to be more considerate to their tenants next time and will not do the same thing again. A lesson for him...

jasmineA, so it was OK to pay the amount to the first guy, but you want a discount from the real owner?

It happens to us too, until now we still fighting for our cheque back from the second owner of that flat. The best part is he just paying for 2,000Qr and he charges us for 8,500Qr.And 1day the building owner come and knock our door, because the 2nd party not suppose to rent it out to anyone with out the consent of the owner.

And now the building owner want us rent direct to him, with out any discount at all.See, how greedy they all when it becomes to money matter. They all rich but yet they doesn't want to help at all when it becomes to money.Well, money was fire to everyboby no matter who you are. Anyway good luck to everyone that having the same problem like us.....

Your not alone who suffered that dilemma. It happened to us also. But worst is he is also a Filipino which is supposed to be more greatful than other nationality. But anyway, we reported him to the police and he paid the deposit we asked from him and recieved warning from the authority.

i think it was nice of eeya not to mention the landlords name.if she really wanted to humiliate them she could have done it.so keep it up eeya.i also think you should go to the police,so such landlords will not harm any more people.

we all should be careful in dealing with such situations.

im sure all those who read this and require such accommodations would think twice with their dealings with the landlords.

and then ms.pop corn girl,i feel you got an attitude problem.im sorry ,but thats what i feel when i read your post and also your comments to other posts.pls be a little more humble in your words pop corn girl.

because I very much doubt he comes on QL.

Even if he did, do you think he will change?

It has happened, it has gone.

Unless you name and shame, what has this post done for you?

Has it helped anybody else? NO.

Nobody knows who you dealt with.

So all you did was get it off your chest.

That is great.

Unless you PM all of us with his name, we are none the wiser.

All we know is that yet again, somebody has has another crap landlord.

Join the club mate. x

subletting is illegal. Get in touch with the real owner and pay them after signing a contract. This man will be stuck, and he can't complain to the authorities. He was paying the real landlord much less than what you're paying.

he comes on here and sees what you are saying?

Good for you getting it off your chest.

Write to the paper not post on QL.

just report him to the authorities. BOth the lady and the man are doing illegal work there. Try to get in touch with the real owner and appraise him of your problems
